On or about August 15, 2013 an overnight NJDOT re-paving project on Route 206 from the north side of Montgomery Township through Hillsborough will begin. The re-paving will take place from 8pm until 6am and will take a few weeks to complete. Residents and travelers are urged to plan accordingly. The project will consist of milling, re-paving and re-striping. There will be intermittent lane closures between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm.

Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno Set as Keynote Speaker for 20th EBDC Networking Social

Hillsborough Township Mayor Frank DelCore and the Hillsborough Economic and Business Development Commission will be hosting the 20th Networking Social on October 17, 2013 at Duke Farms. Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno will be the keynote speaker for the event, which is set to begin at 5:30pm in the Coach Barn, which can be accessed off Dukes Parkway East.

"As always, we are honored in Hillsborough to have Lt. Governor Guadagno take time out of her busy schedule to participate in our events," commented Mayor Frank DelCore.

"By her attendance at this social, it further solidifies our commitment and that of the State of New Jersey to our business community," added the Mayor.

Hillsborough Rewards Program Accepting Applications for Grants

The Hillsborough Township Credit Card Advisory Committee will open the application process for grant applications on September 3rd for its second round of grants this year. Committeewoman and Liaison to the Credit Card Advisory Committee Gloria McCauley said, "We are happy to open the application process for our non-profit senior and youth organizations to apply for grants through the Credit Card Rewards Program."

This grant application process is open from September 1, 2013 through September 30, 2013. Applications can be found online at www.hillsborough-nj.org or at the Municipal Clerk / Administrator's office. Completed applications must be returned to the Municipal Clerk / Administrator's office by September 30, 2013 to be considered for funding.

Township Committee Honors Varsity Softball Team

The Hillsborough High School Girls Varsity Softball team was recently honored at a Township Committee meeting with a proclamation. The team won the Skyland Conference Delaware East Division with a Conference Record of 14-0 and also won the Central Jersey Group IV Sectional.

Open Board Position Hillsborough Baseball League

The Hillsborough Baseball League's Board of Directors is in need of candidates for several open Board positions. Interested candidates should send an e-mail stating their intent, along with a brief biography outlining qualifications to secretary@hillsboroughbaseball.org.

All potential candidates must submit their intent by September 15th. Only persons in good standing with the league will be considered viable candidates.

JCP&L Partners with IBEW Local 102 to Enhance Response to Storms and Other Major Events

First Utility in New Jersey to Use Local Electrical Union

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) recently announced that it is the first utility in New Jersey to partner with a local electrical trade union to provide damage assessment and public safety resources to help speed the service restoration process following a severe storm or other major event.

Known as the JCP&L-IBEW Local 102 Emergency Response Team, the initiative will include International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 102 members who will be available for dispatch following major storms to protect the public from downed wires and other hazards. In addition, the innovative program will enable Local 102 members to supplement JCP&L's existing personnel by helping to assess damage to company equipment.
