Hillsborough Supports Legislation to Clarify Business Personal Property Tax   

The Hillsborough Township Committee passed a resolution at Tuesday night's meeting supporting two bills before the state legislature.  Bills A-3393 and S-2324 would clarify the law regarding payments of business personal property taxes by local exchange telephone companies that in 1997 served 51% of a municipality's population.

Township Committee Honors Thomas Cahill, Somerset County Young Entrepreneur of the Year for 2012   

Hillsborough High School junior, Thomas Cahill was honored at Tuesday's Township Committee Meeting with a Proclamation for being chosen as the 2012 Somerset County Young Entrepreneur of the Year.  Thomas is the owner of Cahill Landscaping, currently in his fourth year of business.

Township Police Department Offering Firearms Safety Locks to Residents  

The Hillsborough Township Police Department is committed to keeping our community, and especially our children, safe. In an effort to accomplish this, Chief Paul Kaminsky is encouraging gun owners to practice safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage by distributing  200 firearms safety locks to Township Residents.

Residents of Hillsborough Township may come to the Hillsborough Township Police Department at any time to obtain a free firearms safety lock that includes safety information. Residents will be eligible for up to 2 locks per household.

Contact the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to Oppose Rate Increase   

At the February 12, 2013 Township Committee meeting, a resolution was passed requesting the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities hold hearing on PSE&G and JCP&L's response to Super Storm Sandy in addition to taking the appropriate action to oppose JCP&L's request for a rate increase.  

Under Docket No. E012111050, JCP&L filed a Petition with the BPU for a rate increase.  

All Hillsborough Township residents are encouraged to contact the BPU in opposition of the increase.

Fire Company #3 Holds Annual Installation Dinner  

Congratulations to Hillsborough Fire Company #3 as they recently held their annual Installation Dinner.  Mayor Frank DelCore attended to swear in the 2013 officers and newly certified Fire Police.

Girl Up and Henkel are thrilled to announce that the Unite for Girls Tour is stopping at Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey on March 8, 2013 in celebration of International Women's Day!

Somerset County residents can take advantage of the next First Saturday of the Month Drop-off event to clean up around their homes on March 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater, N.J. 08807.

 Reminder To All Residents Regarding
Snow Covered Roads
 
Township Ordinance 143-21 prohibits parking on snow covered roads.  When snow is anticipated, use off street parking as an alternative. Vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense. This is necessary in order for the Department of Public Works to effectively plow the streets.
