Participates in National Wear Red Day on February 1st
 As part of the Mayors Wellness Campaign, Mayor Frank DelCore invited all Township employees to participate in the American Heart Association's (AHA) Annual National Wear Red Day for Women on Friday, February 1, 2013.
Hillsborough Township employees joined millions of people around the nation, bringing attention to this important issue.

Township Committee Recognizes Junior Rank Academic All-American Hillsborough Resident Ryan Wheaton
|
Hillsborough seventh grader, Ryan Wheaton was selected to participate in the Junior Rank Academic All-American Football Game earlier this year in California. The Junior Rank Organization is an academic and community service based league that seeks outstanding football talent from across the country. Ryan achieved a 3.4 grade point average during the football season which qualified him for the honor.

News from Hillsborough Township Police Department: "Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk"
|
In an effort to keep Hillsborough Township roads safe during the weekend of the Super Bowl the Hillsborough Township Police Department in conjunction with the Somerset County's Safe passage initiative will be conducting extra patrols to combat drunk driving. Additionally, the variable message board will be placed out on Route 206 near Andria Avenue displaying the message "Fans don't let fans drive drunk". Here are some safety tips for your Super Bowl Celebrations: - Designate a sober driver before the party begins and give that person your car keys - Consider using a taxi cab or car service - Ask a sober family member or friend to come and get you - Spend the night where you are
Please celebrate the Super Bowl responsibly.

Life Skills Presents "The 15 Minute Child Break"

Where: Hillsborough Middle School - Media Center When : Thursday, February 7th Time : 7PM Presented By: Partnership for Drug Free New Jersey The 15 Minute Child Break is a free one-hour, interactive presentation for parents/caregivers of students in grade 4 - 12 that informs, encourages and empowers parents to listen and communicate effectively with their children in order to prevent substance use. Registration is not required - walk-ins welcome

Applications Being Accepted for the Hillsborough Affinity FCU Credit Card Grant
|
 The Hillsborough Township Credit Card Advisory Committee has opened the application process for grant applications for the first round of grants this year. Committeewoman and Liaison to the Credit Card Advisory Committee Gloria McCauley said, "Once again we have this is great opportunity for our non-profit senior and youth organizations to apply for grants through the Credit Card Rewards Program." This grant application process is open from February 1, 2013 through February 28, 2013. Applications can be found online at www.hillsborough-nj.org or at the Municipal Clerk / Administrator's office. Completed applications must be returned to the Municipal Clerk / Administrator's office by February 28, 2013 to be considered for funding. "We are always delighted to be able to open the application process, because that means we are helping out organizations within the community through the rewards program and at no expense to the taxpayers of Hillsborough," added Committeewoman McCauley.

Ballpark Community Box Available to Nonprofits, Community Organizations

 Requests are now being accepted to use the 30-seat community box at the TD Bank Ballpark. To be eligible, applicants should be nonprofits whose client base consists of at least 50 percent Somerset County residents or community organizations that are located in Somerset County or have a facility based in Somerset County that serves the citizens of Somerset County. Applicants should provide a significant community service or volunteer element to Somerset County residents. For more information, click here...

The 16th Annual "Heart of Gold" Basket Auction will take place at Amsterdam School on Friday evening, February 8, 2013. The Basket Auction is the largest money-raiser for ASHA...thank you for your support!
All proceeds benefit Amsterdam Home and School Association.

The Triangle Elementary School HSA will host their "Go for the Gold" Basket Auction on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Manville VFW Hall, 600 Washington Ave., Manville. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the drawing starts at 8:00 pm. For tickets/info. call 908-431-6600 ext. 7517 or click here.

February First Saturday Drop-Off, Holiday Pick-up Schedule
County residents can take advantage of the next First Saturday of the Month Drop-off event to clean up around their homes on Feb 2nd from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater, N.J. 08807.
