Northeast Kingdom
KINGDOM VENTURE
March 2014
Winter's Last Hurrah!
You never know what March will bring as it's often the snowiest month here in the Kingdom, but the temps warm up to enjoy Spring Skiing.  There's still plenty of white stuff around to get in those last runs or head out for a couple more snowmobile adventures.  While you're out and about, you will soon start to notice wafts of smoke from sugarhouses and a sweet scent in the air as Maple Season begins.  It's time for Winter fun and Spring traditions in the Kingdom!

Farm Fresh Dining in the Kingdom!
The Northeast Kingdom abounds with farmers and food producers making everything from award winning cheeses to our signature Pure Maple Syrup. A great place to learn about and sample a variety of locally produced foods is the Northeast Kingdom Tasting Center.  Here you can enjoy over 20 made in the Kingdom foods and beverages including Eden Ice Cider, Jasper Hill Farm cheese, Sanderson Hill Honey, Spring Hill Farm Beefalo and more.  Of course, there's Maple Syrup available, too!  Stop in to enjoy a meal at the Brown Dog Bistro and be sure to stock on your favorites to take home.

Of course, this month is the start of sugaring season so a visit to local sugarhouses is definitely in order.   A great farm to visit is Chandler Pond Farm where you can learn about tapping trees and the sugaring process as well as help collect sap, boil and sample the syrup.  Just call ahead to visit.
