President's Message
Tessa Dongarra
2016 President
Happy August SCWBA members! I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. I can't believe it is almost over. The Parade of Homes, our biggest event of the year, is approaching fast. This year's Parade will feature 10 new homes, 3 remodeled homes and 4 outdoor living spaces. There are currently 15 members renting garage space in various new homes and there is still room for more. This is an economical way for your business to be seen by 2,000 prospective clients. Contact the SCWBA office for more details.

The SCWBA website will have home information and a map to all Parade locations available at the end of August. Please encourage clients, neighbors, family and friends to get out and support our local builders and see some wonderful homes!

Ticket sales will be available in advance for $9 at various member locations beginning Monday, August 29th. If your business location would like to sell tickets, please contact Carol at the SCWBA office. Tickets will be $10 at the door of any Parade location, or online.

Thank you to our Ticket Sponsors, Nelson Young Lumber Company and Culvers. Unfortunately we do not have an event sponsor this year. This year's Bus Tour Sponsors are Flooring & More (Bus), Budget Blinds(Lunch), and Johnson Bank (Beverages) for the BUS TOUR on September 15th.

"Ladies Night" is Friday, September 16th from 5-7pm. women_cocktail.jpg Ladies are free to attend the Parade Homes with the final stop from 7-9pm at 1515 Newport Ave, hosted by Cabinet Country. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. One lucky lady will have a  chance to win a fabulous door prize too!

I strongly encourage all members to attend the Parade as a simple way of showing support to your fellow members. I also encourage you to promote the Parade to your customers so they will see the time and effort that goes into these homes. Purchasing discounted tickets in advance and gifting them to clients is a great way to help potential customers looking to build and make purchasing decisions. Contact the SCWBA office to purchase tickets.

There is no GMM in August, but mark your calendars to attend the September 27th GMM at the Anchor Inn in Newville.

All roads that lead to success have to pass through hard work boulevard at some point.

A very special Parade Home (House #10) this year is being built for a disabled veteran & family here in Rock County.
Bob Sarow of Wellnitz & Sarow Builders has partnered with a donor to build the home.  Many local businesses are donating to the success of the home, and from what we hear, there may be more homes to come. SCWBA is proud and salutes everyone's efforts to make this happen!
Those businesses that have donated labor and/or material donations include: ABC Madison, ABC Roscoe, ABC West Allis, American Power, Andy's Fine Grading, Budget Blinds, Country Doors, Dale Walker Roofing, Halverson Flooring, Helgesen Crane Service, Janesville Plumbing, Marling Lumber Company, National Flag Store, Nelson Young Lumber, R&W Heating, Shelving & Bath Unlimited.  If you're interested in being added to this list, contact Bob Sarow at 752-6985

Membership Campaign 2016
Have you noticed?
Signs are appearing in front of new homes under construction by SCWBA members. The signs let the public know this builder is a member of a professional trade association.

Beginning next week, a series of postcards are being mailed to over 350 prospective builder members throughout Rock & Green County, inviting them to join us! The plan is to personally contact those non-member builders and invite them to the Sept 27 GMM to show them what we are all about!

The 2016 Membership Campaign has included Billboards, Radio Spots, Vehicle Magnets, Window Clings, and these Signs!  All have been an investment in SCWBA membership. We need to GROW.  SCWBA has shrunk to 162 members, from an all-time high of 500 in 2007. We need members to make our events profitable, and our voice stronger. Please help us spread the word and promote membership to businesses you do business with. Tell them why you belong and what it has meant to your business.

Coming soon for SCWBA Members

A few months ago, the SCWBA Board of Directors approved my request to use a membership marketing and database online program "memberzone".  The benefits to the SCWBA Office, as well as all SCWBA members are numerous!  All of your member information has been downloaded into the program, and I've been actively training to learn how to effectively use the many, many features the program offers.

To keep it simple, it's a tool to track all SCWBA member information, dues/renewals, promote events, track rsvp's, and make it easy for you to receive and pay invoices online.  We will be rolling this out to all of you with a "Go-Live" date of Friday, August 19.  You'll be able to create your own log-in, check your member info, make changes, respond to events, and pay invoices.

So, watch your in-box for more information coming soon.  I'll be learning right alongside all of you, so please be patient. The future opportunities this program provides, and the convenience to all of you is exciting!   - Carol Engebretson, Executive Officer
