Happy summer to you, SCWBA members!

I know everyone is very busy, but I also hope you are able to get out and enjoy the awesome weather we have been having. We had a nice attendance at the May 31st GMM. Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and support the students and to show them some appreciation for their efforts on another beautiful home. The house has been SOLD! Many thanks to all members involved, especially Doug Scott and Chris Engstrom of Advantage Homes. The 2016-17 Lot has been purchased on Sheffield Drive - our 10th build!

Scholarships were presented to Brandon Disch, Aaron Roach and Hunter VanZandt. Congratulations and best wishes to the scholarship recipients and to the rest of the student build participants.

I hope everyone had fun at the golf outing last week. The weather was looking pretty bad in the morning, but turned out to be a fantastic day! We had a great turnout this year with 109 golfers. Thank you very much to all of the committee members, the golfers and the sponsors. Without all of your support, this outing would not be possible. I'm sure you all had a few good laughs when teeing off with a baby strapped to yourself!

This year's Parade of Homes will include 10 new homes, 3 remodels and 4 outdoor spaces. Now is the time to set up a Garage Rental space with a participating builder. Please see the form in the link provided. Although it is a small parade this year, it's sure to be a good showing of the variety of products and materials our quality builders offer in their fine homes. Please make sure to get out and support the builders and associates who make these homes a reality.

I can't believe the year is already half way over! Time passes by way too quickly. Life happens, life can be short and life can also get in the way at times. In order to remain successful, you must also be happy. Keep that in mind as we flow through the summer months.

Life lived amidst tension and busyness needs leisure. Leisure that recreates and renews. Leisure should be a time to think new thoughts, not ponder old ills.

  • The DSPS, in conjunction with Focus on Energy, Southwestern Wisconsin Building Inspectors Association, the Wisconsin Builders Association and the Wisconsin Builders Association Foundation, would like to make you aware of upcoming in-person training sessions led by Focus on Energy, Wisconsin's statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy program. These trainings will address recent changes to Wisconsin's energy code for one- and two- family homes (SPS 322) and ensure builders are meeting the new requirements. Training is July 15 in Verona.
