President's Message
Tessa Dongarra
2016 President
Happy New Year SCWBA members! 2015 was a great year, but I have an even better feeling for 2016. I'm really looking forward to serving as your new President. I am a firm believer in our association. In 2016, I would like to focus my efforts on MEMBERSHIP. SCWBA has a lot to offer its members, and I can honestly say that by being an active member and participating I see direct results for my business. I encourage all members to help me with this. Ask the people you do business with who are not members to join. It pays to do business with a member and it pays to be a part of a professional association that is here to help you succeed. As the Membership Committee chair, I am also looking for help on the committee. If you are interested in joining this committee please get in touch with myself or Carol.

Thank you to Jeff Steffensen for serving as our 2015 President. A job well done by, Jeff (and Amy). Your efforts are appreciated! Thank you to everyone who attended the December GMM. We had a great meeting, yummy food from the Italian House and fabulous entertainment from Hypnotist Paul Knight. A real treat to see yours truly singing and dancing. We also recognized the 2015 Board members and gave awards to Doug Scott, Tessa Dongarra and Amy Steffensen.

The 2016 Home Show will be March 12-13. There are booth spaces available so reserve yours now. I love being a part of the Home Show every year. It's a great way to showcase your services and products for one whole weekend in a convenient location. Each year I see direct sales from the Home Show immediately after and even years after. The Home Show committee is working hard on some new ideas to draw in more visitors. This year they will introduce 2-4-1 coupons that will be available just prior to the event. Stay tuned for more details.

The always fun and delicious Chili Cook Off will be on Wednesday, February 17th. This annual event will once again be at Marling Homeworks. We will soon be looking for Chili Chef's to help SCWBA raise funds to support ECHO. All varieties of chili are encouraged. If you have never been a Chili Chef, now is a great time to show off your skills or work on improving them!

Attention builders and those needing continuing ed credits. Check out the classes
Marling Homeworks offers for FREE throughout the winter months. Click HERE for a list of classes.

The best is yet to come. I look forward to working with you all in 2016. I will leave you with some wise words by Dr. Seuss ...

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."

We surpised the guys with an Italian House lunch in December. Now they're busy hanging drywall in January.
It's been a great winter for construction!
