Sandy Hook Troop 512 & Brazilian Jui Jitzu
Wow! Look at Troop 512 from Monmouth Beach go! They played crazy games, did obstacle courses and had lots of laughs. They learned all kinds of techniques on how to deal with bullies. The coaches held an interactive class to learn about combating bullying. They learned the steps: Talk with a confident 'I' statement; Tell an adult; Tell another adult; if there is no escape and the bully becomes physically violent then Tackle then run for help. They also learned the difference between "tattle" and "tell". What a great activity for all Girl Scouts!

Victorian Tea at the Bailey-Reed House in Manasquan
Point Pleasant Brownie Troop 190 visited the Bailey-Reed House in Manasquan, part of the Squan Village Historical Society. The girl changed into beautiful Victorian dresses and had a Victorian social with baked treat and fruit juice. They were given a tour of the house and allowed to try and actually take part in many historical things. They ground grain, carried water buckets, tried washing clothes like long ago, tried an old fashioned stereoscope, played old fashioned game, among many other things. The 4th grade girls absolutely loved it! It was free! All they ask is that the girls write a thank you letter to them in return either as a group or individually.
Barbara Reynolds from the Historical Society said the visits from Girl Scout Troops are down and she would like to host more groups.
We highly recommend this trip for troops in Grades 2-4 especially. To schedule a tour contact: Bailey-Reed House 105 South Street, Manasquan, NJ 08736 Phone 732.223.6770

Help Us Reach More Girls!
This spring and summer, we want Shoreline Girl Scouts to be out there everywhere in our communities to share the joys of scouting and recruit more girls to join us! To that end, we need to know about what events you have coming up! Please email shoreline@girlscoutsjs.org to let us know what's going on in your town, place of worship or school, and whether we can have a table at the event. Bonus if you can help wo-man the table. We have tons of recruitment materials for you to use!
Does your troop want to help make an even bigger impact? Run a recruitment event for us in your area. Have a princess party recruitment! We can supply you with all of the materials. In May and June, we are looking for at least one recruitment event in every community. Help us out and have your girls receive community service hours and get a patch. Contact Kelly if you want to help!
