The cool cat's head told her the Brits would vote to remain in the European Union, her gut said no, that they'd take a powder. They took a powder. Looks like Growl's gut is smarter than her brain.

Doomsdayers warned the British voters that the world would end if they voted to leave the European Union. President Obama dropped by to tell the Brits to remain in the EU and threaten to send them to the back of the trade queue if they didn't. Hysterical Lefties screamed their usual epithets: "Racist", "Bigot", "Islamophobe" (as if being afraid of a religion practiced by people who routinely cut off the heads of those who don't agree with them can be considered phobic). George Soros, who nearly broke the Bank of England (1), warned about a recession (2).

Polls in the closing days of the referendum indicated those who wanted to remain in the European Union would prevail. The betting, which usually is more reliable, trended that way, too.

So what went wrong? How did the polls and the bookies get it so wrong?

The cool cat's guess is that the Brits lied when the pollsters called and that so far as the betting went, people who were afraid their golden goose was going to get cooked threw money at the oddsmakers to see if they could skew the votes.

So why did the British voters vote to leave the EU? The Tiger doesn't know any more than anyone else does, but she suspects the Brits took some offense at an American president telling them what to do and threaten them if they didn't. Or it could have had something to do with unelected bureaucrats in Brussels suggesting that the Brits' electric tea kettles use too much energy. Or perhaps it was London's Muslim mayor deciding London's buses shouldn't have pictures of skinny models wearing bikinis (3, 4). As if anyone with a single blinking neuron really believes a practitioner of a religion that puts women in body bags called burqas and practices female genital mutilation really is concerned about young girls' self-esteem. The markets certainly were roiled by the British vote, the stock market dropping 600 points in America. Scotland is mad enough to want to leave Britain and join the EU by itself. The "remains" want a re-vote, actually probably as many re-votes it takes until they get their way (6). Socialist French President, Francoise Hollande met with French Nationalist, Marine Le Pen, to discuss "the Brexit fallout" (7) and rumor has it, Angela Merkel who started the whole mess by inviting millions of disaffected Middle Easterners and North Africans to come live in Europe, is concerned because five other countries, France among them, are making noises like Britain was making last year (8).

Meanwhile across the Atlantic, Globalists representing the Republicrat Party which has governed since Ronald Reagan left are busily trying to figure out how to elect Hillary Clinton so Donald Trump, the American equivalent of the Brexit vote, doesn't become president of the United States.
