College of Hard Knocks
Department of Political Seance
Professor Growltiger D. Katt
Final Exam

1) Your kid needs surgery. Dr. R. D. Establishment has practiced in your home town ever since Dr. Reagan left. Dr. Establishment graduated from Harvard Medical School, did a residency at Yale and took a fellowship in specialty surgery at Duke. The only problem is Dr. Establishment's operations always fail and few if any of his patients survive. Dr. Nonprofessional recently arrived in town. Dr. Nonprofessional attended a state medical school, did a residency at a small community hospital, didn't take a fellowship, but had a successful family practice before taking a residency in surgery.

Which doctor do you choose?

2) Sickville, the town next to yours, is suffering an outbreak of an unknown virus which kills one-third of the people it infects. Before they succumb, they come unhinged and go on a killing spree. Experts do not know how to prevent the virus, how many people in Sickville already have the virus, how the virus is transmitted and have no way of telling whom is infected until the sufferer breaks out in a rash of killings.

How many Sickville residents do you let come into your town?

3) The Omniscients live on the hill above the city in a gated mansion protected by a wall patrolled by armed guards. The Omnisicients are concerned about the number of gang related shootings.

Exactly how much money do you donate to the Omnisicients' Ban Guns cause?

 4) There have fifteen burglaries in your town (none in the gated community where the Omnisicients live) in the last four months, and fourteen of the victims and their families (and their dogs) were shot and killed. In the case of the fifteenth family, the father possessed an illegal AR-15 and shot and killed the burglar.

How long should the father serve for possession of an illegal firearm?

5) Two Chechen brothers, angry at Russian foreign policy toward Chechnya, made bombs out of pressure cookers and killed three and injured 264 spectators at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Should America ban pressure cookers?

6) Your kid is sick, but you can't afford a doctor. Your spouse needs an MRI, but you can't afford it. Your power has been cut off and you're three months behind on your cell phone bill. You're not sure you can afford your mortgage, but the housing market has gone bust and you're under water on your loan.
How much money should you borrow to give to impoverished people in other countries?

7) You owe $100,000 in college loans, but the only job you can get is as a barista in the local Starbucks.

How many new tattoos do you get?

8) Your  local schools have roaches and rats and none of the kids know how to read and write. The teachers are on strike, demanding higher salaries and benefits.

How much should taxes be raised to give the teachers the raise and increase in benefits so they'll keep teaching what they're not teaching?

9) You have just been discharged from the hospital where you coded after an aneurysm dissected. The physicians saved your life, but upon recovery from surgery, you had weakness in your left leg.

Whom do you sue?

10) Your health insurance just went up, but it doesn't matter because you can't afford it anyway. If you could, your deductible would be $50,000/year and the monthly payment $7,000/month which covers a yearly physical and two shots of Penicillin should you catch a STD.

How much should you be fined for not having insurance?

11) A Muslim baker in your town refuses to bake a cake for a same sex couple insisting instead that they be thrown off the roof of the three-story building in which his bakery is located.

How much do you fine the Christian bakers for not baking the perfect wedding cake for this couple?

12) The factory in which you worked for 10 years closed two years ago, and you've been unable to find a job. You are working three part-time jobs in order to pay the rent. (Your partner pays for food and utilities).

Should the 11 plus illegal immigrants living in the United States receive welfare?

13) The Islamic State has beheaded, burned and drowned captives and practitioners of religions other than Islam.

What should the United Nations do about Israel?

14) Leftists protesting a political rally by the opposition punched and threw eggs at those attending the rally (1).

Should politicians Leftists oppose be allowed to hold political rallies?

15) A group of radical Islamists attacked a Radiohead listening party in Istanbul using pipes to violently beat fans for drinking alcohol during the holy month of Ramadan.

How much should Radiohead be fined for inciting a riot?

Write a 300 word essay on the atrocities committed by Christians during the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition and how this relates to the Westboro Baptist Church and why the LGBT community should be afraid of people who believe in Jesus.
