Understanding the War
By Chuck MacNab

As we watch the media discourse about the 2016 election campaigns and listen to the liberal "news" show whining (just about all of the media's current purveyors of "wisdom.") who are so concerned about harming "civilians" and possible non-combatants we can't help reflecting on the decisions made by past Presidents of the USA. Presidents like Democrats Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and Republicans like Ronald Reagan and George Bush and virtually all other Presidents, recognized that the security of the country trumped (no pun intended) all other issues. They formulated policies and made decisions that showed they understood the words they agreed to when they took the oath of office. I paraphrasing those words, we view them as meaning that the highest priority of any U.S. President is to defend the security of the United States and its people from all enemies, domestic and foreign. We currently have a President that is failing miserably, and perhaps deliberately, to honor the meaning of those words.

When Franklin Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war against Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor was he wrong? After all, innocent civilians would be killed so perhaps he should have ordered the military to avoid any and all strikes that might have harmed civilians! He also authorized the "carpet bombing" of German cities that reduced them to rubble and that certainly took into account the killing and injuring of families of Nazi combatants. If he had not made these policy decisions all of Europe, Britain, the United States and Canada would certainly have been speaking German today, most of the population may have been working in slave labor camps and today, children would be wearing brown shirted uniforms with Nazi symbols on them.

Harry Truman made the decision to use nuclear weapons against Japanese cities so was he wrong? Many liberals today seem to believe he was guilty of war crimes in doing so. Many historians believe he saved many thousands of American lives by authorizing the use of  nuclear weapons on Japan. A conventional invasion of the Japanese mainland would have been a bloody carnage indeed...for both sides.

Ronald Reagan ordered an attack on Libya in retaliation for the downing of a U.S. airliner and the military put a bomb through Muammar Gaddafi's bedroom window! Was that justified? Many of today's Obama followers would say that it was a war crime!

Most people today would agree that we are at war. It is a war that is disarming its opponents by passing itself off as a "religion." The West has naively bought it, and we would bet, much to the absolute amazement of the Mullahs in Iran and elsewhere! We would opine that they almost cannot believe the stupidity of their opposition.

Donald Trump is stating that he wants to win the war and eliminate the most obvious threat to the United States that we have experienced since WW II. The liberals in the Democrat Party and some misguided Republicans who are about to give Obama everything that he wants in the way of money, oppose this in favor of policies they profess to believe are "more humanitarian" actions (or lack of action). Hillary knows better but is using the arguments to achieve her long held ambitions to hold power over others, to distract public attention away from her incompetence and to cover up of a plethora of foreign policy and national security mistakes while she held public office. In her current campaign for President there should be no doubt that she is advocating more of the same!

By buying votes with public money, the radical liberals are bankrupting the country and among the most serious of misguided policies, are destroying the military by ordering it to engage in a variety of clearly questionable social welfare experiments, getting rid of competent military leadership in favor of politically correct individuals who favor their personal careers over competency on the job and the interests of the nation... and by forcing decisions and setting up conditions where we will lose another war! A war that could jeopardize the existence of civilization. President Obama and his chief adviser Valerie Jarrett seem to be initiating policies that will convert the country, the culture and Western civilization into a Muslim dominated world living under Sharia Law.

The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.
--Herbert Spencer,(1820-1903)
