IS ISIS ISIL?

The butchers currently occupying parts of Syria and Iraq refer to themselves as "The Caliphate". Others call them as IS, short for "Islamic State". Most , however, use the term "ISIS" which stands for "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria".

But President Obama and his administration spokesman use the term "ISIL" which stands for "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" which geographically speaking includes Lebanon, Jordan and Israel.

So the question remains, is President Obama sending a verbal signal to ISIS that he considers those states as part of their Caliphate or is he simply geographically and historically challenged?
