Last week, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the word
state does not mean state as applied to the Affordable Care Act which turns out not to be affordable for those who don't receive subsidies.
Subsidy is a misnomer, too. The government has no money except that which it confiscates from citizens. In other words, to give one American welfare or subsidy, other Americans first have to cough up the dough. The government is only the middle man, taking the credit for the largess.
Words, like elections, matter. Or at least they used to.
In a second 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court decreed that
marriage doesn't mean what it has meant since the founding of the nation. In short, marriage means what the Kritarchy says it means.
In response to the Kritarchy's decision, the country's first Gay divorce firm opened in Philadelphia (1) and a Montana man seeks to marry two women (2). Look for others to challenge the prohibition(s) against a man having more than one wife. (Growltiger is unaware of any religion which allows women to take more than one husband). Further, somewhere in this nation there must be at least one wacko who wants to marry his dog or cat.
Unless Congress acts and writes legislation that redefines marriage as between two
human beings, Growltiger sees no logical reason why the man from Montana legally can't have two wives; that Muslim and/or Mormon practitioners cannot have as many wives as their religions allow; or the pet lover can't take Fido or Fluffy as a spouse.
Of course, if the Kritarchy that decided state doesn't mean state and marriage doesn't mean marriage, maybe they'll find that two doesn't mean two and human being doesn't mean human being. Which brings up another thorny issue. Now that we have a president who rules by Executive Action, a media that supports Executive Action so long as a Democrat is in the White House and Kritarchy that finds new meanings in old words and no longer is governed by that silly paper called
The Constitution, why bother with having a Legislative Branch at all? How many more subsidies could government grant if it didn't have to pay Congressional salaries? Surely the Kritarchy that found state doesn't mean state and marriage doesn't mean marriage, can find that Legislative Branch doesn't mean Legislative Branch.
