THE BID TO BECOME "EL SUPREMO*" - PART ONE
By Chuck MacNab
It's a giant "moneybags" con game and everybody who is anybody in the Democrat Party is in on it. Thus far, with the exception of the Baltimore rioting, Hillary's campaign has strategically sucked most of the media attention away from EVERYTHING ELSE, even Obama's Iranian Nuke giveaway, and in her direction, leaving each "Republican hopeful" a tiny slice of attention. It makes no difference to her at this point whether the media highlights the good or the bad. She and Bill always ride on someone else's ticket! The fact is that the attention is focused on her and is sucking name recognition and attention away from everyone else. Widespread publicity of any kind, unless it is proven to be criminal, is the objective. It's a long time until the election and the 30 second rule of forgetting is what counts. Most citizens don't know this or believe it but every politician knows it.
Of course it's impossible, but Republicans should hold their convention tomorrow, select a leader that can collect the money and the talent to start putting the arguments in front of the American public NOW and do a one-on-one with the Democrat Party's obvious choice. Republicans are, once again, willing and eager, maybe unwittingly, to use the mantra of "competition is good" to engage in the formation of a circular firing squad. Republicans embrace this idea for another reason. It sells a lot of groceries, drugs and cars and gives their candidates a chance to show their wonderful oratory and nail down their small group of one-issue constituents. "Golly and holy smokes, Bessie, what a winning (for sure entertaining) activity!"
The idea of unfettered and bloody competition is good as a capitalist, free enterprise concept, but in politics the moat successful strategy depends entirely on what the opposition is doing. The Democrats have not used the "competitive" model for some time. When they did, they lost! They learned their lesson, but the Republicans have not and will most likely continue to be confused about the merits of wiping each other out on the Primary campaign trail until they either change their views or are eliminated as contenders.
Democrat radicals control the politics in places like Chicago, New York, Baltimore, etc., and we can clearly see the results of the almost total lack of Republican effectiveness. We may not realize it, but we are looking at the results of mistaken and failed Republican political strategies nationwide and worldwide. The Republican wannabe's are satisfied to each get their little piece of media attention, while Hillary, with a few bored editors and FOX NEWS as exceptions, grabs the attention of all of the major media.
Hillary Clinton has now moved to an extreme position on immigration. She is supporting total and complete AMNESTY! In doing so she reveals a campaign strategy based on opportunistic moves that will target each issue of concern to certain segments of the American public. The use of this strategy is not without precedent. It was brilliantly and successfully used in Barack Obama's 2008 and 2012 Presidential campaigns. The technique divides voters over each group's most important issue and this way inhibits them from forming an effective coalition that supports the bigger picture.
Without a lot of money and grass roots communication, Republican arguments that in order to best protect their interests, voters need to connect the dots and look at the big picture does not develop broad appeal! Therefore, groups do not turn out on Election Day and elections are lost in spite of the general recognition that "elections do matter." Will it happen in 2016? Whether it will or not depends on how much turmoil there is in the country, how deep the pain is with individuals who make up the majority and whether there is more recognition that competency and past performance will outweigh race and gender considerations.
Our next few commentaries will outline our views concerning what Hillary indicates her specific policies will be if she is elected President. In this commentary we dealt briefly with immigration.
