JOHN BOEHNER RE-ELECTED AS SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE
By Chuck MacNab

It should surprise nobody that John Boehner won his bid for a third term as Leader of the House. Those who ran against him will undoubtedly find their offices have been moved to the "boiler room" and their reserved parking has been moved to the other side of nowhere! They may find themselves short of staff too! That's Washington politics and, once again, it verifies an old saying, "To the winner goes the spoils" and for the losers, "Don't call me, I'll call you!" For those waiting for a change or "fresh air," don't hold your breath.  As we approach the 2016 election we will see how this approach sits with the grass roots.

Boehner's supporters have all along signaled that they don't care for the Tea Party or any politician that isn't ready to compromise with Obama.  "Compromise" being the "in thing." We have seen the liberal definition of "compromise" with the recent budget agreement. Obama was given all the funding he needed for nearly a year to support all of his outrageous policies with the exception of homeland Security. Obamacare will be so entrenched it will take a planetary incident to dislodge any of it. With Homeland Security issues he was held on a shorter leash but still may come out with an Immigration Bill that will eventually allow Democrats to claim another 12 o 15 million votes. This will convert the USA to a ONE PARTY SYSTEM (like Chicago) and many believe Boehner's budget "compromise" has made that more likely.

Our view at this point is it's better to get on with it than to have a messy public battle that feeds the liberal media more raw meat about dissension among conservatives. The fact is that grass roots groups are not organized, cannot raise enough money and are full up with overwhelmingly naive people who are more concerned with protecting their personal political turf than they are with winning elections. Conservatives know the media is full of liberals and the hallmark of their groups is to jump to conclusions based on 30-second sound bytes or slick and colorful campaign flyers (whose printing is funded by "the big money"). The most damaging trait conservatives own, aside from the "turf issue" previously noted, is that they actually FIGHT to remain one-issue groups that follow losing strategies because "it's the principle that counts."  As the pros have demonstrated time and again, that sort of mindset doesn't win a majority of votes in either a primary or a general election.

Today's selection of Boehner is not shocking or stunning. It was fully predictable and merely verifies our often-stated conviction that BIG MONEY calls the shots. But then let's not fool ourselves. BIG MONEY is essential! If those on the RIGHT in the Republican Party, including conservatives and independents, believe otherwise they are whistling in the dark. If conservatives and independents want to be effective in politics, there is a very simple, foolproof and ancient method of achieving it. ORGANIZE so the differences that cause defeat can be recognized, analyzed and settled. There must be agreement that WINNING is the only way to achieve policy change! These principles are all there for anyone to see.
