MASSIVE PENSION CUTS MAY BE COMING By Chuck MacNab
Below is a link to the National Retirees Legislative Network web site. According to information on the site, and published in other places as well, the budget just passed by Congress contains wording that may have opened the door to allow massive and widespread cuts in pension plans. Formerly, we understand, cuts in already earned pensions were prohibited by ERISA legislation. Several knowledgable sources have indicated, due to wording in the new budget agreement, that pension protection may have been wiped out. We wonder if those politicians who hold office and/or are retired from office have been exempted from these possible pension cuts! It would not surprise us if they were.
Please read the material on the NRLN web site and any other related information you may come across and draw your own conclusions. For many this could be critical.
