The majority media will not go down without a fight, and their support is worth millions of dollars in free propaganda and opposition research. Look how valuable "moderator" Candy Crowley was to President Obama in the second (foreign policy) debate when she openly sided with President Obama's misstatement thereby silencing Governor Romney.
And never forget Dan Rather's attempt to sink George W. Bush's reelection in 2004 with phony documents that would never have been exposed as sham had there been no internet. John McCain might have been the darling of the New York Times when he was savaging other Republicans, but when he ran against a Democrat, the "paper of record" turned on him like a duck on a June bug. President Obama's two daughters are off limits and anyone who mentions them is eviscerated by the press. But that wasn't true of the two Bush girls who were fair game. So whether Republicans like it or not; whether it's fair or not; the majority media must be factored in.
Listed below in alphabetical order are some of the possible Republican nominees: Michelle Bachman, John Bolton, Scott Brown, Jeb Bush, Herman Cain, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Bob Corker, Ted Cruz, Mitch Daniels, Bob Erlich, Carly Fiorina, Newt Gingrich, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, John Kasich, Peter King, Susannah Martinez, Sarah Palin, George Pataki, Rand Paul, Mike Pence, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Rick Santorum, Rick Snyder, Donald Trump, Scott Walker and Allen West.
All of the above would make better presidents than what we have now, but unfortunately the reality of the MSM has to be dealt with. With that in mind, let's winnow down the list to those who just might win. Some candidates will be eliminated more than once.
1. The nominee cannot already have been defeated or destroyed by the mainstream media. That eliminates Bachman, Cain, Gingrich, Palin and Romney.
2. The nominee cannot have been defeated in a previous Republican primary. That means Bachman, Cain, Gingrich, Huckabee, Perry, Romney, Ryan and Santorum are gone.
3. The nominee cannot have been defeated in a presidential election whether on the ticket as president or vice president. Curtains for Romney, Palin and Paul Ryan.
4. Given the experience of the last six years with a former Senator with no executive experience, former senators have to be deep sixed, too. Goodbye Brown, Corker, Cruz, Graham, Paul, Rubio and Santorum.
5. The candidate must have held elective office. There goes Bolton, Carson, Cain, Fiorina and Trump.
6. The candidate cannot have held elective office and been defeated for reelection. Unfortunately, Colonel Allen West is out.
7. Given the experience of the last six years, the nominee must be or have been a governor eliminating Bachman, Bolton, Brown, Cain, Carson, Corker, Cruz, Fiorina, Gingrich, Graham, King, Paul, Rubio, Ryan, Santorum, Trump and West.
8. Since the majority media froth at the mouth at the every sound of the name, anyone named Bush has got to go. Sorry Jeb.
9. The nominee cannot have a negative past history which the majority media can exploit in an effort to help the Democratic nominee. Unfortunately, that means former Governor Mitch Daniels whose wife divorced then remarried him. The media would rip her to shreds.
This leaves Christie, Erlich, Jindal, Kasich, King, Martinez, Pataki, Pence, Snyder and Walker.
10. Since the candidate must be able to carry his or her own state and blue states elect Republicans to fix the messes the Democrats leave behind, but generally vote nationally for Democrats, blue state governors Christie, Erlich, Pataki, Snyder and Walker are gone leaving Jindal, Kasich, Martinez and Pence.
