Promises, Promises
(NOTE: We have not published some of Growltiger's most recent commentaries that you may enjoy. Therefore, we recommend that you click on the link above as doing so will take you to her site. We recommend her most recent commentaries as they are "on point" with current bumbling national policies and we know you will enjoy their insight.... Chuck)

President Obama is a politician who definitely keeps his promises.

In a speech on June 8, 2008, candidate Obama, acknowledging his own limitations, said if Americans would work for it, June of 2008, would be the moment which "generations would look back" and say-- among other things, "this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal." (Z. Byron Wolf, ABC News, November 1, 2012.) Word is still out on the planet's temperature, but as far as the oceans are concerned, President Obama has kept his word. Sea ice in both the Arctic and Antarctic increased, setting a new record for ice cover over the period of satellite observations. Melting ice at the poles was thought to provoke a rise in sea level which in turn would provoke flooding of coastal regions. (National Snow and Ice Data Center; http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/).

Candidate Obama promised if elected he'd "Make the Veterans Administration a national leader in health reform." Yep; he kept that one, too. After election, the President and Democratic House and Senate without a single vote by a Republican passed the Affordable Care Act (1) and thousands of Americans learned they could not keep their doctor and/or their insurance which went along with a Veterans Administration internal audit that found that more than 120,000 veterans were waiting for or never got care and pressures were placed on schedulers to use unofficial lists to make waiting times appear more favorable.

President Obama kept Candidate Obama's promise to reset America's relationship with Russia. Russia has reset in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine, and the Estonians are arming thinking they might be reset next.

Candidate Obama vowed to end America's war in Iraq and bring home the troops. That, too, he accomplished. Unfortunately, al Qaeda in Iraq neither went home nor stopped fighting, instead morphed into something called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and after beheading two Americans, one Brit, one Frenchman and slaughtering hundreds of Christians and non-aligned Muslims now controls a number of cities in both Iraq and Syria.

Candidate Obama promised to end the war in Afghanistan. If reports are any indication, there is no more war in Afghanistan as the country is rarely mentioned in the majority media.

Candidate Obama implied he'd be a post-racial president, and he has been. Since his election, the Department of Justice has refused to prosecute the New Black Panthers for threatening white voters outside a Polling Place in Philadelphia, blacks and whites came to loggerheads over the Trayvon Martin case in Florida, black citizens rioted in Ferguson, MO after a white policeman shot an unarmed black teenager (who apparently had just robbed a convenience store and strong-armed the proprietor) and as this is being written there is racial unrest in St. Louis, MO.

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
