ICE REPORT

We have 2" of ice just off the shoreline with very little snow on it. With the forecasted temps this week we should continue a steady growth of ice.

Isle Bay, Wahkon Bay & Cove Bay report 3-4" of ice and have seen some walk-on traffic this last week.

Although the satellite photo show Mille Lacs about 75% covered by ice, that ice is probably very thin and is now covered with a couple inches of snow.

Use caution when venturing out on the ice and always check with your local resort for current ice conditions.

ICE IS NEVER 100% SAFE

DNR ICE GUIDELINES

For new, clear ice only:

2" or less - STAY OFF

4" - Ice fishing or other activities on foot

5" - Snowmobile or ATV

8" - 12" - Car or small pickup

12" - 15" - Medium truck

Here are a few reminders for getting your stored ice house ready and how to get your ice house easily accessible on a seasonal site.

Checks for all Ice Houses

-Skids & Spreaders in good condition

-Pulls on both ends of the house

-FWR plaque & IH# on front of ice house
