Fishermen's Wharf Resort
FISHING REPORT

Fishing has gotten  a little tougher since the front hit Saturday night. The deep rocks in 33 to 35 feet are still giving up fish. Use a slip bobber and leach or pull rigs in these spots. Pull cranks in the 8 to 12 foot rocks at dusk on big point to add to your catch.

In a fishery famous for walleyes, Mille Lacs bass are often overlooked. Bass are, arguably, ranked near the bottom of the angler food chain behind walleye, perch, northern, muskie and even crappie.

Terry McQuoid of McQuoid's Inn in Isle recognized the business potential bass represent decades ago. "Mille Lacs Lake is truly a world-class bass fishery," McQuoid said. "We sort of take it for granted because it's in our backyard."
