HEARTBEATS
NEWSLETTER SUBTITLE

We sure are loving this warm, "spring-like" weather as we finish up the final week of our first session of 2015!  Our last day of the session is tomorrow, Friday, March 13th.  And though we know we're probably not done with winter yet, the horses sure think so.... their thick winter coats are shedding fast!

This newsletter is loaded with announcements and information... keep on reading to see what's happening out at the ranch.

Please join us on Friday, March 13th from 11am-1pm for a going away party at Hearts & Horses in the Classroom/Office building.  Feel free to come hang out for a bit and get in one last hug before they leave on their new adventures!
Volunteers Come Work with Us!

Volunteers -- over break there are training opportunities to come work with Liz, instructors, and the horses. There will be a training on Thursday, March 19th from 12-2 PM to focus on horsemanship education. Our second training will be on Tuesday March 24th from 10 AM-12 PM and will be focused on having fun with the horses. These two trainings are great opportunities to advance your horsemanship knowledge and get to work our staff first hand.
Property Beautification!

We are so thankful to volunteer extraordinaire, Peggy Woodward, for continuing to work on our property and grounds to make them so beautiful! See the new fence she built for the Ranch House and notice the shamrocks and theme for St. Patrick's Day?

South Korea Visitors
Hearts & Horses recently hosted a government delegation from South Korea to explore expanding therapeutic riding in South Korea as well as forming a closer relationship with PATH Intl. An interesting fact: PATH Intl. has more international members in South Korea than any other country...and it includes a Premier Accredited Center!
Herd Update

We would like to announce Charlie is retiring. After two wonderful years and all the lives he has touched it is time for a peaceful and relaxing retirement from his work in therapeutic riding. Charlie is looking forward to spending the rest of his days with his owners soaking up as much love as they have to give. Hearts &Horses is very grateful to Malcolm and Dana Waters for allowing Charlie to serve here. He is much loved and will be missed. Feel free stop by and wish him well; he will be leaving on Saturday, March 14th.

We would also like to thank Deb Cheuvront for allowing Glider to spend a couple sessions with us and hope she enjoys her time back at home. We will miss her;Glider is such a wonderful girl and she has made a huge impact during her time here at Hearts & Horses on so many!

We would also like to wish Big Mac and Gavin a good vacation over our break and hope they enjoy the rest and the time with their owners.

We're also still looking for that next  "super pony" - so if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please contact Liz De Kock, Equine Manager at 970-663-4200.

Therapeutic Riding Survey

A CSU student conducting a survey on Therapeutic Riding for her honors thesis reached out to Hearts & Horses for help distributing the survey. The survey is targeting current therapeutic riders or parents of current riders. The responses from the survey will be used to create a booklet that will hopefully lead to a better understanding of therapeutic riding and the benefits experienced by the riders. The survey can found at the following Link. We appreciate your participation in this survey because she is willing to share her results which we can use for evaluation of our own therapeutic riding program.
