Time sure does fly when we're having fun! October has been a HUGE month for Hearts & Horses - from our wildly successful 14th Annual Lucky Hearts Casino Night Gala, to ending Session 4 and preparing for Session 5, to hosting a PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning Workshop, to the PATH Intl. Conference next week in San Diego, we're not slowing down anytime soon!
We are so appreciative of our volunteers who always go above and beyond without being asked, our sponsors, donors and guests who are always so willing and generous to help however they can to our amazing staff who puts 110% into everything they do -- thank you ALL for all you do!

2014 "Lucky Hearts" Casino Night
A Record Breaking Night!
Thanks to an amazing group of sponsors and supporters, our 2014 "Lucky Hearts" Casino Night was a HUGE SUCCESS! With this being the events first time at the Embassy Suites in Loveland, we experienced an amazing new venue that brought a class and elegance that surprised even our most seasoned guests!
A special "Legacy" award was presented to both Meredith Hodges and Lynn Hammond for their amazing contributions to Hearts & Horses over the years. We so appreciate their guidance and support!
The Live Auction included an amazing New York City Extravaganza, Eagles Suite for 12, a timeshare in the Shenandoah Valley, National Finals Rodeo Tickets with Airfare, a signed Troy Tulowitzki bat, a singed PRCA vintage scarf, and a very Special Fire House Dinner! Our silent auction included over 200 packages! A BIG thank you to all of our amazing donors and bidders!

New PATH Conference Scholarship Awarded to Hearts & Horses Instructor Michele Kane
PATH Intl. announced a new conference scholarship this year, and we are so excited for Michele Kane, the first recipient! This year six staff members from Hearts and Horses will be heading to the conference in San Diego next week- WOW! Check out what PATH Intl. has to say below:
"This year, PATH Intl. announced a new conference scholarship opportunity for a veteran of U.S. military service in order to promote their continued growth and to give back to them for their service. This deserving awardee will have the opportunity to attend the 2014 PATH Intl. Conference and the Community Connections day with a special track devoted to PATH Intl. Equine Services for Heroes.

Equine Specialist in Mental Health Workshop at Hearts & Horses
 We are so excited to hold yet another PATH Intl Workshop and Certification here at Hearts & Horses. Individuals have come far and wide to attend this very special workshop that focuses on "equine professionals and therapeutic riding instructors who work or would like to work with students with mental health and/or learning issues. The workshop also benefits those who work with mental health or education professionals, helping to enhance cooperation and provide a more complete experience."
This is a very unique certification and we are proud to be able to share it with so many individuals. Keep an eye out for more upcoming certifications in the spring!

Trial Horse Spotlight:
Blanca
With the change of seasons comes new horses as well! Welcome to Blanca, a beautiful grey Spanish Barb and Quarter Horse cross. She is very inquisitive and kind and wants to know what you are doing all the time! We are so excited to have her as a trial horse in our program and can't wait to see how she does in the future!

Monday, November 10th
The Film: Riding My Way Back
Along with hundreds of other centers around the country, Hearts & Horses is proud and excited to host a screening of a short documentary in honor of Veterans Day called "Riding My Way Back" on Monday, November 10th at 6pm at the Rialto Theater on 4th St. in Loveland. The documentary, Riding My Way Back, chronicles one soldier's journey back from the brink of suicide. Through caring for a horse, the soldier begins the difficult process of reconnecting to the world around him and healing the terrible, invisible wounds of war that had nearly defeated him. This is not only one soldier's story, but the story of thousands and thousands of our service men and women. The film recently premiered at the GI Film Festival in Washington, DC, where it received the Founders' Choice Award. To view a trailer of the film click here.
The event will include a social hour with appetizers and drinks, the viewing of the film and a panel discussion with veterans, families and therapists.

The Varsity's Homecoming Party
Check out some of the pictures from The Varsity's Homecoming party below. Riders, families and volunteers enjoyed watching Temple and The Varsity play in the McKee Arena Tuesday evening for his Homecoming Party. We are so thankful to everyone who was and still is part of his amazing journey to Hearts & Horses and we are so excited to see what the future brings!
