NEWSLETTER SUBTITLE

What a summer it has been here at Hearts & Horses! Between Summer Camp, Volunteer groups, Session 3, construction and the crazy weather we are so thankful for your continued support, dedication and optimism for the past 8 weeks! 

We now look forward to a couple weeks of well deserved rest and relaxation for our equines as well as the many fun and exciting events that we have coming up in the Fall!

Thank you so much to all our amazing volunteers both in lessons and summer camp this summer. Through heat to hail and torrential downpours we so appreciate your dedication, support and compassion in all that you do.




Thank You Wayne and Fran Phipps


Thank you so much to Wayne and Fran Phipps for their generous donation of "the bar proceeds" to Hearts & Horses from their "Celebration of Life, Good Times and Good Friends" party last weekend! Their guests happily "ponied" up a donation to Hearts & Horses at the bar and as a result over $1,400 was donated to Hearts & Horses. WOW!!!

Both Fran and Wayne have been long time supporters of Hearts & Horses. Fran used to be on our Board of Directors and continues to volunteer in our Changing Leads program. Wayne has found us many wonderful program horses over the years as one of our amazing farriers and has also lent us "Sally" his mare for the past two summer/fall sessions. We are so thankful for both their friendship and support!

Gala Highlight:
Looking for Auction Items

The 14th Annual "Lucky Hearts" Casino Night is fast approaching on October 11th and we are in need of some awesome auction items! If you have any ideas, are willing to contact organizations, or would like to make a donation to the gala please let us know! We are looking for anything fun, unique or exciting, large or small!

What's the Scoop?
Starting this week we will have two large dumpsters on the property for weekly manure removal. Instead of wheelbarrows, manure will be placed in blue muck buckets and transferred to the dumpsters daily. Not only will this remove unsightly manure piles from the property, but will help to greatly reduce flies and potential disease around the property as well. 
If you have any questions regarding Barn Team and how this will affect manure disposal please email Megan at megan@heartsandhorses.org.
Enviropest: Thank You

A HUGE thanks to Kevin Lemesters and his crew at Enviropest for assisting this summer with helping us combat our flies and other type of pests in the barn and on the property. Flies, especially, can be carriers of many equine diseases and we are thankful to all of the help we get in order to keep the fly populations as minimal as possible. Session 4:  Volunteers, Scheduling and Sign-ups
8 weeks:  August 23-October 20
Looking for a few good Horse Leaders and Side Walkers for lessons Monday-Saturday. The schedule will be a bit different as we are trying to transition to a block schedule which will have groups of lessons in the morning and groups in the afternoon on most days. If you are interested in staying with the same rider or have a free day in your week, please let Katie know through e-mail (katie@heartsandhorses.org) or give her a call at 970-663-4200 x 305. Thank you for all you do!

Help us get 'The Varsity' Home! 
 
Help us get The Varsity home to Hearts and Horses! Hearts and Horses has been extremely fortunate to have received a Gypsy Gift from LexLin Gypsy Ranch. We are so honored to have such an incredible support system that voted for us each day over months to make this dream a reality. Now that we have found out that we will be paired with an incredible gelding- The Varsity of LexLin- we are working on getting him home! The journey from LexLin Gypsy Ranch in Rockwood, Tennessee to Hearts and Horses is 1,341 miles, and shipping a horse is a formidable cost. Sponsor a leg of The Varsity's journey- $1 for each 1 mile. Every mile helps get him closer to home! The Varsity turns 4 years old on August 23rd, so help us get him home by his birthday! 
We are so excited to meet The Varsity and would love support from our wonderful community to get him here!

Congratulations to Miranda Lohry and Rebel
Congratulations!!! to our very own He's Solid Gold "Rebel" and his owner and long-time Hearts and Horses volunteer Miranda Lohry on their All-Around High Point at Larimer County Fair for 4-H Level 1! Rebel is an incredible asset and loving, compassionate member of our Hearts and Horses four-legged herd of therapists, and Miranda is an invaluable volunteer. 
THANK YOU for all that you both do for Hearts and Horses and we can't wait to see how many more trophies and ribbons you bring home!
