We are all very excited to have a warming trend in our near future!

Amy Tripson in the saddle!

Hello, my name is Amy Tripson and I am the new Office Assistant at Hearts & Horses. I cannot say how excited I am to be here and be part of such an amazing organization! In January I relocated to Wellington, so I am a Colorado newbie! I did my undergrad at St. Andrews Presbyterian College where I swam, rode and ran Cross Country. After I graduated I moved to Southern Illinois for Graduate school and graduated with my Masters of Science in Education in Kinesiology and Sport and Exercise Behavior this past May. I have done a lot of traveling over the past few years, from working in Texas to visiting Mount Rushmore last year. I am currently training for a half ironman and am looking forward to exploring more of Colorado in my spare time! My love of horses has always followed me where ever I go, and I am so fortunate to now be able to not only work with an amazing group of people and volunteers, but also to be around horses all day long. I look forward to meeting everyone, so please stop in and say Hello!

Welcome Bailey, Spring 2014 Intern

Hello all! My name is Bailey and I am the new intern at Hearts & Horses for the spring semester. This is my final semester at Colorado State University before I graduate with my Bachelors of Social Work and I still cannot believe that I get to spend it at Hearts & Horses!   I am a Coloradan, born and raised, and while my family has lived in the city, our chickens, massive garden and other animals can attest to our affinity for country life. I love animals, music, baking, being outdoors and discovered a new love/hate for running last year as I trained for and finished my first marathon! My desire to work with animals was surrendered to an even greater passion for working with people but I have found the best of both worlds within the incredible Hearts & Horses community. After graduating I hope to earn my Masters of Social Work and start my career working in alternative therapies with a variety of populations. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during my time here and hope that the New Year is bringing you new opportunities for adventure!

Winter Sowing Seminar - Learn how to grow your own perennials!

Interested in learning how to add the beauty of native perennials and heirloom vegetables and herbs to your garden this spring? Join us at Barnes and Noble for a hands-on winter seed sowing demonstration and Q&A with local garden experts. With this creative and easy germination method you will be able to start hardy and vigorous seedlings. Winter sowing is done outdoors during winter using mini-greenhouses made from recyclables. We have thousands of high quality seeds of all varieties to share with YOU! Just bring a clean 1 liter soda bottle or a gallon milk jug and you can walk away with a mini garden of your own! The Hearts and Horses Winter Seed Sowing demonstration is free and open to the public. Come join us for some fun and walk home with your own mini-greenhouse of your choice of perennials and or heirloom vegetables and herbs. The demonstration will take place from 11-1 pm Saturday, Feb. 15th, and 1-2 pm Sunday, Feb. 16th, at Barnes and Noble at Centerra, Loveland.

King Soopers Card - Earn $$ for Hearts & Horses!

Do you shop at King Soopers or get gas at Loaf & Jug? Hearts & Horses is now registered through King Soopers to receive donations from your everyday grocery and gas purchases! This is a great way to support Hearts and Horses without spending a penny!

Here's how to get started:

1. Pick up your King Soopers reloadable card from the Hearts & Horses office.

2. Load money onto your card. This can be done from a credit card. This is essentially the money you are using for groceries and gas anyway!

3. Use your card whenever you purchase groceries or gas!

It's that simple! Whever you use your card, King Soopers donates 5% of your total upload to Hearts & Horses so be sure to keep loading money on for gas and groceries each month. Get one for yourself, or pick up a couple more to give to friends and family! For more info contact: amy@heartsandhorses.org

Thanks for YOU and all you do!

Sincerely,

Your Hearts and Horses Family
