Making Artur's Dream Come True!

"My Dad, Artur Borutzki, and I were there on December 2nd as part of the group from Memory Care at Seven Lakes. He has been coming to Hearts and Horses since Fall 2012 but this time was the first that he rode. I took many pictures and videos, this was really special to me, thank you. "

Today my Dad rode a horse named Cinnamon Girl.

Both are very pleased with themselves, as [this] picture can attest to.

Congratulations to Our Instructors

Recently, we have had several instructors complete PATH International Certifications after many months of hard work!

Current instructor, Hannah Perkins-Smith, completed all requirements and received her "Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning Certification." This certification requires passing a workshop and skills test, many hours of studying, practicum hours, and testing. Way to go, Hannah!

Michele Kane and Adriane Brownlee recently passed their "Registered Instructor Certifications," joining the ranks of PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors! Both of these ladies spent many hours volunteering and student teaching under H&H instructors over the last six months. Their hard work definitely paid off!

Farewell, Dear Friend

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved therapy horse, "Six." Six was a part of the Hearts and Horses program for several years, and in this time touched the lives of many riders and volunteers. During his time at Hearts and Horses, Six was treated by CSU veterinarians working closely with our own veterinarians for a bladder/urethral dysfunction which didn't allow him to completely empty his bladder. There is no cure for this rare condition. Colorado State University ensured that Six had a healthy life there for over two years working as a "teacher" to veterinary students. Six's wonderful personality and loving character made him a favorite at CSU, and he continued to impact the lives of many people during his time there.

We wish to thank the many equine professionals, the CSU community, and also our own Hearts and Horses community for the ongoing support and care that Six received through his time at Hearts and Horses and at CSU. Thanks to all the caring individuals in his life, Six received world-class care and love during his career. We will all remember him fondly.

Thanks for YOU and all you do!

Sincerely,

Your Hearts and Horses Family
