MCVC Wet Lab: Advanced Monitoring of the Hospitalized Patient

(Marc Bercovitch, DVM; Katherine F Smith, DVM) Cost: $75 

This is a 4 hour interactive session and simulated wet lab designed for Doctors and Technicians to learn how to place and maintain advanced catheters, perform advanced patient monitoring techniques, and discuss other relevant topics to the care of critical patients, Topics that will be covered include: Seldinger technique and central line/multilumen catheter placement; water monometer measurement of central venous pressure; three syringe technique of blood collection; non-invasive and invasive blood pressure monitoring; Foley catheter placement with closed collection system for monitoring urine output; intracatheter sampling line placement; continuous ECG monitoring and arrhythmia identification intraosseus catheter placement; nursing considerations for neonatal, geriatric, recumbent, and critical patients.

New Tennessee Certificate of Veterinary Inspection Available

The new Tennessee electronic Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (eCVI) is available to accredited Tennessee veterinarians.  There are two choices of eCVIs, an I-Pad version available from the Apple store and a Window based PDF version.  Read more...

Craig Prior, BVSc, CVJ, was named President-Elect. Dr. Prior is the Medical Director of Murphy Road Animal Hospital in Nashville, TN. His areas of focus include all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery. Born and raised in Australia, Dr. Prior graduated from the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

           Ashley Eakins

Patterson Veterinary Supply

  

Having been in animal health for the past ten years, Ashley has held the position of sales representative with Patterson Veterinary Supply for eight years.  Prior to coming to animal health, she worked for a human pharmaceutical company.  She graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1999 with a BS in communication.  Originally from Memphis, she and her family live in Nolensville.  She and her husband, Patrick, have been married for ten years and are parents to two boys, Logan, 7, and Griffin, 5.  Her family also includes two dogs and two frogs.  She enjoys spending time with her family, reading and traveling.

ACVO/StokesRx National Service Animal Eye Exam Event Scheduled

The American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) is gearing up for its 8th Annual ACVO/StokesRx National Service Animal Eye Exam Event. The goal of this event is to provide as many free screening exams as possible to eligible Service Animals across the U.S. and Canada throughout the month of May.  As an extension of a general practitioner's current assistance to Service Animal clients, ACVO encourages referrals for these animals to receive a complimentary eye health screening.  Registration for the free eye exams begins April 1.  For more information and registration, visit  www.acvoeyeexam.org.

 

      

Obituary  


Tim Butterfield, Sales Representative with Jorgensen Labs Timothy "Tim" Bernard Butterfield, 57, of Franklin, NC, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015.  Born in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Ross Butterfield and Jacoba Lamport Butterfield. Tim worked for Jorgensen Labs as a veterinarian equipment salesman.  He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Marie Boyd Butterfield; sister, Sharon Butterfield of Franklin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Pat Boyd of Franklin, and extended family in Florida.  Online condolences may be made at Macon Funeral Home.
