Doctor, Have You Checked Your Website's Pulse Lately?-

People have a special relationship with their pets, and most recognize that visiting a veterinarian enhances that relationship. But you see it every day in practice - pet owners who have been bombarded with incorrect and incomplete information and are confused about what's best for their pets. So much so that they may not follow your clinical advice, and may not bring their pets to critical preventive care appointments at all.

PLIT Donates $96,000 in Scholarships to Veterinary Schools-In an effort to assist future veterinarians with the overwhelming concern of student debt, the AVMA PLIT has donated a $3,000 scholarship to each of the thirty-two veterinary schools that the program's Trust Representatives visit each year. The PLIT worked with each college scholarship committee to introduce the scholarship and asked the committees to select qualified recipients. The $96,000 has been disbursed equally to thirty-two veterinary schools. The scholarship criteria consisted of five components:

1. Must be a third year veterinary student
2. Must demonstrate financial need
3. The funds must specifically go toward tuition and school fees
4. Must be a U.S. citizen
5. Must be a continuous SCAVMA or SAVMA member

The AVMA PLIT is committed to preparing students for their future in veterinary medicine, and every year the Trust Representatives present loss control information on how to avoid allegations of malpractice at each veterinary school.

The 2012 PLIT Scholarship Program recipients include: Jennifer Cotey and Rachel Savoy (equal split) from the University of Tennessee.

The PLIT is also pleased to announce that the scholarship program will continue in 2013; $96,000 will again be disbursed equally to thirty-two veterinary schools, and the scholarship criteria will remain the same.
