NEWS FROM KBIS 2017

NKBA members from all over the United States gathered in Orlando this January for KBIS 2017. Board members arrived early for all-day training on Monday, which began with a series of addresses from the National Board announcing many exciting developments for the new year, including a dramatically revamped website to better serve its members. Awards were bestowed and Manhattan Chapter members captured three: Best Chapter Program for "Design Unleashed" produced by VP Professional Development Dave Burcher (pictured above) and former VP Programs Chris Prince; Best Chapter Officer-Chapter Rep for VP Programs Dawn DeLuca (pictured below); and an Ambassador Club Award to VP Membership Toni Sabatino.

The "Magic of Design" Opening Party at Epcot capped off Monday evening, featuring more industry awards followed by a festive and well-attended reception.
The next three days were packed events and activities, including the Keynote speech by legendary quarterback Peyton Manning, visits to the New American Home, and of course walking a show packed with exciting and interactive displays from a multitude of manufacturers.     Seminars throughout the day offered the opportunity to get off one's feet and brush up on marketing, social media, and business management skills. KBIS 2017 wrapped up its many networking opportunities with The Bash at Mango's Tropical Cafe, where members danced and mingled in the (finally) warm Orlando night. FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hello and happy new year to all. We thank you again for your continued support of the NKBA Manhattan chapter. We're looking forward to another exciting year.
This past January, several Board members attended the annual Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), and we were delighted with this fabulous showcase of all things kitchen and bath. We hope you were there in Orlando to experience it all. We are also pleased to report that the Manhattan chapter was again an award-winning chapter at KBIS. Out of 60 chapters nationwide we received the Chapter Star Award for Best Chapter Program for our hugely successful "Design Unleashed" program. Many thanks to former VP Programs Chris Prince and VP Professional Development Dave Burcher for this dynamic program.
In addition, our own VP Membership, now VP Communications, Toni Sabatino, won an Ambassador award for her tireless promotion in enlisting members in the NKBA.
And finally, our new VP Programs, Dawn DeLuca,  won the Chapter Star Award for Best Chapter Officer, Chapter Representative, Westchester Chapter. We congratulate them, and we are proud that they are members of our Board.
So we begin 2017 with praise and thankfulness and the wind at our back. Keep an eye out for future announcements and do RSVP for our events as soon as possible. See you soon!

CALLING  STUDENTS!

You're Invited!
Each year U.S. homeowners remodel 10.2 million kitchens and 14.2 million bathrooms. That is a lot of design projects for a design student to potentially get involved in. The outlook for 2017 is that this number will grow. In the kitchen and bath industry you can have successful work as a designer, of course, or a role in research and development or as a product rep for any of the suppliers to this $134 billion industry. In addition to design firms, this industry includes manufacturers of hardware, lighting, stone, fixtures, and appliances, to name a few of the hundreds of products to be specified. Joining the NKBA can open your horizons to job positions you might never have known existed.
While studying in NYC, we invite you to become a student member of the NKBA-Manhattan Chapter. There are so many benefits, among them: You'll meet great people and our monthly events are fun! What's more, this year, student membership is free.
Go to: nkba.org to join or contact VP Membership, Charlotte Barnard at charbarnard@yahoo.com.
