Getting into the holiday spirit with our Holiday Entertaining Bootcamp
event at the new Fisher & Paykel showroom, attendees were treated to a fun, interactive evening where they learned about creative trends in food, cocktails, tablescapes and floral arrangements. From b Floral, Bronwen Smith, owner and lead designer, and Jessica Cusack, design manager, demonstrated how to set a holiday table using warm-toned flowers in seasonal colors. A nice tip was to put a printed menu at each place setting to add a classy flair to the evening. Next we turned to the mixologist, Brian Quinn, of Brian Quinn Events, who provided instruction on making a specialty cocktail, The Paper Plane, as well as cocktail basics, i.e., how to really "shake" your cocktail. Finally, Chef Tageré Southwell worked her culinary magic demonstrating how to prepare a tasty and easy salmon dish and tips on creating a festive holiday plate. Attendees walked away with many great ideas for entertaining. Delicious! A great time was had by all.

FROM THE PRESIDENT
Happy National Kitchen and Bath month! October is National Kitchen & Bath Month and the NKBA is celebrating with several activities to drive consumer awareness via social media. The activities include a social media contest, industry Twitter chat and a new NKBA hashtag to spark kitchen and bath conversations. Use #NationalKitchen&BathMonth to post on social media. Members can participate in the chat on Twitter, which aims to support and promote Kitchen & Bath Month by encouraging homeowners to hire a professional when planning a remodel. For more information visit NKBA.org
The Manhattan chapter is also celebrating its second Membership Drive of the year. We welcome new members to the chapter and we're offering a special incentive-all new members who sign up in October will receive three months free! So that's 15 months for the price of a 12-month membership. Don't miss out on this great deal. Member benefits include vendor trips, networking events, professional certification maintenance, educational courses, consumer leads, member discounts, marketing tools, job listings and leadership opportunities. If you or someone you know has an interest in joining the NKBA, please direct them to our website, nkbamanhattan.org and click on membership application or contact Toni Sabatino, the VP Membership at toni@tonisabatinostyle.com For student membership, see the Student section of this newsletter, below.
We hope you enjoyed our Holiday Entertaining Bootcamp event at the Fisher & Paykel showroom (see article). Because we know how important networking is to our members, we are busy planning the annual Holiday Social for you in December. Look for details and registration information in the next newsletter. In the meantime, plan to join your design colleagues in November at the cocktail party sponsored by MTI Baths on November 14 at BDNY at the Jacob J. Javits Center. Registration details in the Calendar, left. We hope to see you there. Enjoy!
