 President's Message
Gary W. Kelley, CLU, LUTCF 2014-2015 NAIFA-WV President
As we say goodbye to another year, it's time to reflect on the positives and areas of improvement from the past year. As any business professional we should always strive to gain new knowledge and learn from our past. I find the future seems to approach much quicker, the older I get! My hope is that each of you had a successful 2014 and 2015 will be the highlight of your career.
2015 will bring challenges to our industry, as every New Year does. One of the best aspects of our business is that we still have control of how we approach it, how we work and how much energy we are willing to put into it. NAIFA can and does provide us many opportunities for upgrading our skills and staying up to date with changes that occur in the insurance world. Do you read the Advisor Today magazine? I usually get at least one idea a month that is helpful or reminds me of why I chose to be a part of this huge industry.
Something that I am going to do this year is focus on getting back to basics and let more of the outside distractions become less of a burden. The story is still the same. We provide security for families and businesses. At a time when everyone is "just trying to make it," the worst situation possible would be for a spouse or partner to die and leave the family or business without the resources to carry on. We have a moral obligation to give each the best information possible that allows them to make the best decisions for their individual situations.
Shoot for the stars and you will have a very successful New Year. As always I'm at your service, and a phone call away. Until next time God Bless.
Gary W. Kelley, CLU, LUTCF

Executive Director's Report
John E. Pauley, CLU, ChFC, CLTC
As we approach the Holiday Season, it is important to pause and reflect on the many blessings we sometimes take for granted. LOVE FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS provide the support and encouragement we all need to get through the "tough" times. Take a moment and thank those "special" people in your life for all that they do and tell them how much you appreciate them. HELP SOMEONE LESS FORTUNATE. This could be a kind word, some quality time, a donation, or volunteering your time to help serve a meal or buy a present for an underprivileged child in your community. There are several worthwhile charities in the Kanawha Valley that can use your help... make a call today and help someone in need. You'll be glad you did. GOOD HEALTH IS TRULY A BLESSING that we don't understand until it's gone. All the money in the world cannot buy your health. Make a commitment to yourself to eat right, exercise, reduce your stress and take care of your self. It's never too late... you owe it to yourself and more importantly... to your family and children. AND LAST, TAKE JUST A MOMENT TO THANK GOD FOR HIS BLESSINGS, COMPASSION, AND UNDERSTANDING IN HELPING US ALL "DO A LITTLE BETTER JOB" IN THIS SPECIAL CALLING WE HAVE CHOSEN AS LIFE UNDERWRITERS.Best wishes for a joyous Holiday Season and continued success.

NAIFA Prepares to Work with the 114th Congress
NAIFA is one of the nation's oldest and largest financial services organizations representing the interests of insurance professionals from every Congressional district in the United States. A key component of its mission is to "advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment" for insurance and financial advisors and their clients. As a part of this effort, NAIFA is committed working in a positive, constructive way with the 114th Congress when it is sworn in early next year. In addition to congratulating the new members of the 114th Congress, NAIFA provided incoming freshmen members with a copy of Securing America's Financial Future - a detailed portrait of NAIFA members, who they are and how they serve constituent clients. NAIFA congratulates the 114th House committee chairs and ranking members, and looks forward to working with the following House leaders named to the top posts of committees with jurisdiction of NAIFA issues. House Ways and MeansPaul Ryan (R-WI), Chair Sandy Levin (D-MI), Ranking Member House Financial Services CommitteeJeb Hensarling (R-TX), Chair Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ranking Member House Energy & Commerce CommitteeFred Upton (R-MI), Chair Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Ranking Member House Education & the Workforce CommitteeJohn Kline (R-MN), Chair Bobby Scott (D-VA), Ranking Member We also look forward to working with Senate committee chairs, who will be named at a later date. Individual NAIFA members are also offering to serve as resources on insurance and financial issues in the district. And hundreds of NAIFA members are planning to attend NAIFA's Annual Congressional Conference on May 19-20, 2015, to further to establish and cultivate relationships with lawmakers, to share their expertise, and educate them on the value of life insurance, annuities, retirement savings, and employee benefits for 75 million American families. Until the 114th Congress takes office, NAIFA will of course continue its work with the 113th Congress, including efforts to ensure enactment of NARAB II.

The November elections will bring many new elected officials and the looming threat to the tax status of many insurance products is very real. Your Support of IFAPAC is Necessary and Appreciated! NAIFA strives to keep members and lawmakers informed about where we stand on important issues. By clicking HERE, you can find NAIFA's stances on the issues that matter most to the business of insurance and financial advising. Check regularly for updates and additional information. Please consider a contribution to YOUR Political Action Committee!
The Insurance and Financial Advisors Political Action Committee (IFAPAC) is a term used to describe collectively the PAC sponsored by NAIFA at the federal level and the PACs sponsored by each state association. Each PAC is a fund that supports the campaigns of candidates for public office who understand issues important to insurance agents and financial advisors. IFAPAC's goal is to help the associations advance the legislative and regulatory interests of the members of NAIFA. While any U.S. citizen can contribute to IFAPAC, only members of local NAIFA associations may be solicited to do so. Contributions must be voluntary. Contributions are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes. Of approximately 4,600 political action committees registered with the Federal Election Commission, IFAPAC ranks in the top tier. IFAPAC is the largest insurance PAC in the country. In the last election cycle, the national IFAPAC contributed approximately $1.1 million to federal candidates and committees.
