A Ministry Initiative of Church Doctor Ministries

We're pleased to present you the October 2014 update on our
10-month adventure for Christian young adults!
Ramping Up for 2015 Mission Excursions
We greatly anticipate the many mission excursions that SEND young adults experience each month while they journey through SEND. These immersion experiences, at churches or ministries that excel in Christian service, outreach, worship, or cross-cultural missions, give young adults experiences that they will never forget. What are last year's SEND young adults saying about these experiences?
Check it out:

"With mission excursions in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky, there have been great opportunities; this month's mission was in Dearborn, Michigan, where the largest population of Muslims in the United States lives. Immersing into a body of believers from the middle east showed us how they were being the church to a seemingly closed community of Muslims. It was wonderful to see the ways they were reaching out to the Muslim community and how simple love is and yet so many methods of delivery."

"We went to Kentucky as a group. We stayed in a Monastery, where the catholic monks live. I didn't talk for almost a full 24 hours. This was a time of reflection and prayer. I rested a lot. I've needed a time to just be still and not have anything pulling for my time. I enjoyed it a lot. God showed and told me some really amazing revelations."

"We went to Toledo and scoped out Lake Erie, ate at famous Tony Packo's and participated in LOVE TOLEDO: a ministry to Toledo residents, which this time focused on the Toledo Fire department. We delivered gourmet coffee to each station and talked and prayed with the men and women who were present."

"In Holland, we toured the Holland Rescue Mission that serves over 150 residents that have nowhere else to live. The mission provides shelter and meals and disciplines the residents through a process that returns those it serves to health, employment, financial security, and social well-being before they leave to continue their new lives."

We can't wait to see what amazing experiences God uses during the January - October 2015 SEND session! Stay tuned!
"I Wanna Talk About Me"
Do you know the song, "I Wanna Talk About Me", by Toby Keith? It's a song about how a man feels when he talks to a woman...he can never get a word in! She gets so caught up talking about herself and all the details of her life, that finally, the man exclaims, "You know talking about you makes me smile, but every once in awhile...I want to talk about me!"

I love this song because Keith's insights are humorous and entertaining, but I also think they serve as a great reminder that our conversations with God may look similar! Like the verses of the song, we are gently reminded that if we spend all our time thinking and praying about ourselves - what we think, want, need, and feel - we may never get around to asking God what His ideas and plans are for our lives!

God has given each of us specific spiritual gifts and a special calling on our lives; He has big plans for each of us! But, sometimes, it's difficult to discern exactly what those plans look like! SEND is dedicated to helping young adults discover and explore their spiritual gifts and realize who God created them uniquely to be. We believe that our lives should to be a dialogue with God, where we seek His will for us, not a one-way conversation where we tell him our own plans for our lives!

If you find yourself wondering how to make your life with God more of a dialogue than a one-way chat, I encourage you to check out SEND! There is no better time than now to learn more about how you can deepen your faith, discover your spiritual gifts, and learn what God's plan is for your life! I would love to hear from you today! Where You and "Millennials" Collide
Church Doctor Ministries has spent the last 35 years consulting, coaching, and teaching churches in order to make them more effective in fulfilling the Great Commission and making disciples for Christ. After consulting over 1,400 churches, the Church Doctors have identified a startling trend; young adults, "millennials", are disappearing from the church! And not returning! This unsettling discovery led Church Doctor Ministries to launch the ministry initiative we know now as SEND North America!

Church Doctor Ministries is committed to building up the next generation of believers, and they love sharing their discoveries and strategies for how to do this! SEND is excited to announce that a local round table, teaching event, is available to you! This event, Reaching Young Adults: The Great Potential of Those 18-30 Years Old, sheds light on who comprises this "millennial" generation, how young adults are a key ingredient for a breakthrough movement for the Christian faith, and strategic plans all churches and organizations can implement to reach young people. This unique and powerful round table shares what God will do with this generation of 18-30 year olds to reach this country for Christ!

You're invited to attend one of these round tables in November.
