Servants Equipping New Disciples
News and Updates  from SEND North America
October 2013
Gentlemen and Ladies.. Start your engines!
Greetings in Christ from SEND North America! We have launched into year 3 with a bang! Thank you for your support of SEND and checking out our monthly newsletter. Our ministry, Servants Equipping New Disciples, is an exciting process of discipleship and missionary training. We are training the future of the church, and this year we have some incredible young adults who are pioneering new territory with a smile on their faces. What a joy to have a happy, enthusiastic, and positive team this year. I don't think I have laughed this hard in years. The Lord has blessed this ministry with some fantastic, unique, and very gifted young adults who will move mountains. John 20:21: "As the Father has sent me, so also I SEND you." Can I get an AMEN!?
I love the end of the month. I look back as a leader and debrief everything we did. I keep a journal, a day runner, a yearly binder, and personal notes of everything we do in ministry as well as mission. I love to highlight special "God moments," things that we have learned, things that we can do better (accountability), and areas we are growing as a unit. At the end of the month, you are then reading our newsletter, seeing the fruit and witness of what we do in SEND and why we do it. After doing this for the third year, I never get tired or bored putting these monthly testimonies together. Why? Because my goal in these newsletters is to:
  1. Glorify God.
  2. Share witness to what our ministry does.
  3. Inspire and encourage folks to be missional and intentional in life and ministry.
  4. Share that being a Christian is not boring. We live exciting, fun, purpose-filled lives.
  5. Get the word out to other young adults who could benefit and have their lives radically changed by doing a process like SEND.
So, each month, please pass along and share our newsletter with a young adult you might know in church, your neighborhood, your work or in your community. Maybe in the future you will be reading about his life and being a crucial piece of the puzzle when it comes to The Great Commission!
What's Cookin'...
On Thursday mornings on our training days, one student is given money to buy, make, and serve breakfast for the entire unit. In doing this, we are training in the areas of serving, hospitality, and how to be good stewards. This month our student Joshua was beyond creative by making an ethic treat! It was a Bosnian dish called cevapi. It was sort of like a gyro with sausages made of beef and veal. Delicious!

During this time of the morning, it great to share a meal and also share how the Lord is working in our lives. Try this with your family, co-workers, or friends. Once a week, and then rotate person to person. A great way to spend time, fellowship, and learn from one another.

SEND Fun Fact
This SEND Unit 2013-14 has named themselves.......(drum roll) EKKLESIA! Ekklesia means 'those who are the called-out ones.' Simply put, the invisible church, the true church, is composed of those who are called by God not only outwardly but inwardly by the Holy Spirit. When Jesus calls someone to discipleship, He is calling that person to Himself, to belong to Him, to follow Him, and to learn from Him and of Him."

Support Missionaries!

Please support missionaries! In SEND, myself and our students raise our own support in this ministry. If you can bless and support us in anyway, please email Joshua@churchdoctor.org for more information and how your gift to us can be a tax deductible gift for you.

Thank you!
