Cookie Communication for 2016 Cookie Program
This year Cookie Crumbs will be a part of Friday News on a weekly basis! All the information you need to know regarding the happenings of the Cookie Program at GSCV will now be located in Friday News!
Cookie Drive-Thru Reminders
Clean out your trunk, your backseat, and even your glove box to be sure you have room to store the cookies you're coming to pick up!
Use the handy guide (pictured right) to learn how many cookies can fit in your car.  

Bring a second person with you to your drive thru if you want to get out and count the product as it is being loaded*. (*There will be a counting lot at the end of each line for verification purposes.)

Did you know each troop will receive the following items at the drive-thru? 5 for 5 cards, recruitment/cookie business cards and cookie stickers for your cookie customers.
Fredericksburg Drive-Thru
It has come to our attention that more than one address shows up when searching for the Fredericksburg Expo Center at Central Park drive-thru location. Please use 2731 Carl D. Silver Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 as the address.
Are you a Goal Getter?  Goal Getter
Every girl that sells 24 boxes of cookies between February 5 and February 24 will receive a 2016 Super Seller patch pin (pictured right)! Twelve lucky Goal Getters will receive a $25 camp gift certificate or a $25 Build-A-Bear gift certificate. All goal getters are entered to win the prizes. The winners will be announced in the March 4th Friday News.
  
Participants will need to submit your achievement to GSCV by giving the Goal Getter order form (found here) to your troop leader or sending an email to [email protected].

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
2016 Annual Meeting
The GSCV Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Road.  Have you registered yet?  All 2016 Service Unit Delegates and Alternate Delegates must register in COMAR as a the designated delegate or alternate.  In addition, if planning to attend the annual meeting, you must also register in COMAR for the 2016 Annual Meeting. 
 
Please note for Saturday, March 5, 2016:  
  • Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast.
  • Everyone is asked to check-in at the registration tables.
  • For voting members, please check-in before 9:45 a.m. to ensure timely credentials verification.
  • The business meeting starts at 10:00 a.m.
  • Immediately following the business meeting, starting at 11:30, all are invited to stay for updates and conversation with the CEO.
Girl Board Member Announcement
The GSCV Governance and Nominations (Board Development) Committee is seeking dynamic young women, ages 14-17, for two Girl Board Member positions on the Board of Directors.  Interested girls should review the position description with their parents or guardian and receive their permission prior to submitting an application. The Girl Board Member position for the GSCV Board of Directors is responsible for serving as the voice of girl members by providing perspective into the needs and interests of today's girls. Members pledge to advance the development of programming and services for girls through the investment of time and talents.
 
Interested girls should submit a signed nomination form, Girl Board Member position description, a Girl Board Member questionnaire, and three letters of recommendation, including the parent/guardian recommendation form. Fredericksburg Drop Off Update 
Shop orders can also be picked up at the Fredericksburg Drive-Thru on February 18. Orders need to be placed by Tuesday, February 16 in order to pick them up at the drive-thru.

Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Conference
Richmond Coliseum
March 5, 2016
The 2016 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship will take place March 2-6 in Richmond, VA. On Saturday, March 5, there is a special experience, just for Girl Scouts, at this fantastic event. Registration for this program includes interactive program for Girl Scouts led by former student athletes; tickets to both of the semi-final games on Saturday; a voucher to attend the Final game on Sunday; and a patch for each girl. Harlem Globetrotters
Once again this year, the Harlem Globetrotters are offering a fantastic program for Girl Scouts at their Richmond appearance on Thursday, February 25, 2016. The show starts at 7:00pm. 
  • Tickets are sold through the Harlem Globetrotters. This event will not appear on COMAR.
  • The first 50 tickets that are purchased will be invited to a special Meet & Greet before the game.

ADULT TRAINING & EVENTS
Outdoor Training News
Thanks to the feedback from many of you, we are excited to provide a refreshed suite of outdoor course offerings for you this season! 
 
Online Training
Overnight Basics - we are adding in some content to help you prepare for simple overnights with a campfire!  Who doesn't love a day at the park with outdoor activities and a closing campfire!
 
Online Certification - For volunteers who have a moderate level of camping/outdoor experience or who have been trained through another organization or council, we have a training experience tailored just for you! In late spring 2016, we will begin offering an online course to help you achieve your certification for GSCV. This FREE training meets the training requirement for troop and group camping! It is also a resource for anyone who needs a little refresher. Stay tuned for more announcements and how to register!
 
In Person Training
Volunteers new to camping or who want to gain confidence in taking girls out of doors will have a wider variety of Troop Camping Essentials training dates this season. We are offering 7 course dates through 2016! Troop Camping Essentials is now a FREE course with a minimal food contribution requirement to make this experience better. Participants in this course can also celebrate the condensed design of this course with the training now taking place from Saturday morning thru Sunday lunch! We have a great team of experienced and new trainers ready to deliver! 
 
There is a prep course required for each training that runs from 6-9 pm.
