Oops! We jumped the gun and would like to apologize for last week's  announcement about the drive-thru sign ups being ready this morning! We were so excited to have it ready for you earlier than ever that we didn't realize the eBudde system will not allow us to have drive-thru sign ups until troops have placed their initial orders in the eBudde system. The new drive-thru sign up will be available February 5 at 9:00am after the February 1 initial order deadline. Thank you for your understanding!

2016 Cookie Pin
When a Girl Scout places a pin or a badge on her vest or sash, it symbolizes an important achievement. Cookie Activity pins recognize the five skills learned and practiced during the sale. Cookie Business badges demonstrate that a girl has developed specific skills related to running her own business. When a Girl Scout wears these emblems, she lets the world know she's a real-life Cookie Boss! The annual Cookie Activity pin acknowledges participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. A different colored pin can be earned each year. The cookie pin is available to purchase in the GSCV shop for $1.50 each.

Rest In Peace, Ms. Robinett Brooks
One of the saddest events in Girl Scouting is to hear of the passing of a sister Girl Scout. Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia has learned of the death of Ms. Robinett Pittman Brooks, and we would like to express our sincerest sympathies to the family at this difficult time. KPMG Future Leaders Program
We are excited to announce the opportunity for girls to participate in the 2016 KPMG Future Leaders Program, which will include receiving a KPMG Future Leaders Scholarship for $10,000 each year for 4 years of college, attending the 3-day KPMG Future Leaders Retreat at Stanford University this July, and participating in the KPMG Future Leaders Mentoring Program for one year. The Office of Condoleezza Rice is currently accepting applications. They will select 16 top high school senior female students from around the country to participate in this program.

The KPMG Future Leaders Program application includes an overview of the program, instructions on how to apply, and a list of specific criteria needed to qualify for the program. You can also read a cover letter from Dr. Condoleezza Rice and Lynne Doughtie, Chairman and CEO, KPMG LLP.

Applications are due to the Office of Condoleezza Rice at Stanford University by February 28, 2016. Due to the tight deadline, we ask that you push this opportunity out to your girls as soon as possible. The 16 winners will be selected and notified by April 30, 2016, and the program will publically launch with a media announcement on June 7th, the day before the KPMG Women's Leadership Summit.

Generation Nano
The National Science Foundation and the National Nanotechnology Initiative have launched a competition called "Generation Nano: Small Science, Superheroes." The contest asks high school students to design nanotechnology-enabled gear for an original superhero. Submissions are due by Feb. 2, 2016 and will include a brief technical description of their gear and either a video or comic showing their superhero using that gear. Stan Lee, the co-creator of Marvel comic book characters including Spider-Man and the X-Men, recently championed Generation Nano on his blog.

Three semi-finalists win a trip to the 2016 USA Science & Engineering Festival  April 16-17, 2016 in Washington, D.C., where they will present their entry and compete for cash prizes. Details on the competition can be found on the  Generation Nano: Small Science Superheroes webpage.
