COOKIE SALE UPDATE
The 2013 Cookie Sale has officially come to an end! For the past 11 weeks Cookie CEO's and their support staff participated in the largest girl-led business in the Commonwealth of Virginia! The skills they learned during that time will have implications far beyond what we can imagine. Together we are proud of the accomplishment of every girl.

On average the product sales revenue contributes at least 80% of the Commonwealth Council's operating budget. We rely heavily on the proceeds from our Cookie Sale Program to offer the best Girl Scout experience possible to our over 15,000 members. The initial numbers from this year's sale show a 12% decrease in boxes sold.  This translates to more than $1M in lost revenue that would be used to bring the Girl Scout experience to girls in Central Virginia. While councils around the country have seen a slight decrease in sales this year ours is greater than most.

Overall the council experienced a 12% decrease in girls selling.  However, we saw Service Units around the council that were effected by the same decreases go above and beyond last year's sales performance. To those exemplary girls and leaders, great work!

In the coming weeks, our CEO will be communicating how we as a council will move forward and what parts of our organization will be affected by the results of this year's sale. While we are still working on all the details of our changing plans, we can say confidently, that our mission will remain the same and the service to our girls will be unfailing.

Early Bird Membership Renewal
Early Bird Patch

The 2013-2014 Girl Scout year will be here before we know it!  As you know, last year many councils (not GSCV) raised the membership fee one year early to $15 in anticipation of the GSUSA official increase of $15 for 2013-2014.  GSCV's Early Bird registration this year will be April 15 -June 30 and more information will be available at your service unit meetings. Thank you to all volunteers who participated in the Early Bird survey earlier this year; your feedback was invaluable and has helped design this year's Early Bird package. See you at your service unit meeting!
