2013 Environmental Educator Conference

The 2013 Environmental Educator Conference will take place June 19, 2013 at the Benjamin Olewine III Nature Center, Wildwood Park, 100 Wildwood Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
The conference, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., is an opportunity for conservation district education and outreach staff, teachers and other educators to learn about environmental education resources that are available to them and also to network with other education professionals.
There is a $25 registration fee which includes program materials, lunch and refreshments. Seats will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis with registration closing on June 7. The first 35 conservation district staff members (one per district) to register will be reimbursed for mileage (up to $50).

Individuals are asked to bring materials to distribute at the event and to provide resource links for education and outreach (maybe a particular website that you reference often and would suggest to others). Please send any links to Terry or Brandi at PACD.

PACD and DEP Team Up for Another Successful E&S Manual Workshop

CBWI Funding will be Available

Pennsylvania NRCS is accepting applications for assistance through the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Initiative (CBWI) for FY2013. Sign-up is on a continuous basis, but applications received by April 19, 2013 will be given priority in the next available funding cycle.
CBWI funds similar practices that are available in EQIP. Funds will be targeted to categories such as a Stream Corridor Management option that will support stream bank erosion control and stream fencing options, Beginning Farmer projects and Feed Management. Other types of projects may also be available depending on final funding levels.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is now accepting applications for the Sue Wiseman Scholarship, an annual $1,000 scholarship that recognizes youth who have demonstrated leadership and shown exceptional commitment and dedication to improving their community. Applications are due May 1.
The Sue Wiseman Scholarship is open to Pennsylvania high school seniors who have initiated and carried out a personal project that addresses one of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful's focus areas of Prevent It, Clean It or Keep It. The Pennsylvania Association of Floodplain Managers (PAFPM) will be hosting their Fourth Annual Conference Oct. 23-24, 2013 in Erie. The executive committee is currently calling for presenters who can provide relevant and up-to-date information on integrated floodplain management. If interested in submitting a proposal, please complete the Presentation Proposal Form and submit to Kelly Lougee by May 3, 2013 at klougee@psats.org.
