West Nile Surveillance Update
West Nile Surveillance Update

Since we have began our aggressive mosquito control measures in June, we have been joined by many neighboring municipalities in an effort to protect our citizens from exposure to the West Nile Virus.

We have contracted with experts in the field, who have recommended that we maintain our proactive street fogging, backpack fogging and larvaciding activies until the threat level decreases. To that end, The town would like to inform all residents of Westover Hills, of the updated street fogging schedule.

We are planning another round of street fogging beginning August 16, between the hours of 10:30 PM and 1:30 A.M. Backpack fogging will be on hold until we have had an opportunity to estimate mosquito populations in the area. As a result of the rain we just received, all pools and standing water will have to be retreated to prevent the further breeding of mosquitos. After the treatment of these areas, we will no doubt schedule backpack fogging some time in the near future. Much depends on the weather conditions, since rain will wash away any treatment chemicals that are applied. We estimate that these activities will continue at least through September if not longer.

These activities will be carried out by employees of Ridall Pest Control services. Some activities such as Backpack fogging  and Larvaciding may require them to enter and work at various locations on your property. They will be wearing shirts displaying their logo.

They will also be designated as "Mosquito Control" on the back of their shirts. If you have any concerns regarding their entrance on to your property please contact the police
department at (817) 737-3127.
