Sullivan North High School Marching Band News
The Sullivan North High School Marching Band was honored to be asked to be a part of the tv production "Fit for Life". Band Booster President Gary Bortz is a contestant on the local show which mirrors the "Biggest Loser" series.  The band performed and sang as a surprise for Gary as the cameras rolled.  The band was so enthusiastic, they became a part of the entire segment as contestants competed in a tug-of-war game with owner/trainer Jon Hamblin, heckling him as he then did lunges around the band.  The show's producers commented several times on how dedicated the students were and how they managed to practice in 90 degree heat. The show will air in January on Charter 4 the CW.

Holston Students Attend Junior Young Leaders Conference
In March 2015, Ms. Conner, art teacher at Holston Elementary, worked with 5th grade teachers to nominate 10 students to the Junior Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC. Students were chosen based on their kindness to others and overall leadership qualities that had been demonstrated throughout the school year. Devyn Williams and Abby Taylor were both nominated and had the opportunity to attend the conference.   Mrs. Conner recently asked the students about their experience this summer. Abby stated, "I learned so much about our history and culture. It was truly an experience I will never forget." Devyn added, "I really enjoyed the conference, especially the opportunity to interact with other kids my age from all over the Nation! The last night, we made our way to the Maryland Science Center where we explored, played and spent the night ... it was AMAZING!"

Indian Springs Elementary Celebrates Grandparents Day
Students from Indian Springs Elementary School enjoyed Grandparents' Day on Friday, September 11.  The entire cafeteria held so much love that day with grandparents hugging and adoring their grandchildren.  Many teachers and grandparents "adopted" students whose grandparents could not be present that day...such a sweet gesture.  Teachers observed hugs from students to grandparents as never before.  Cameras were flashing as memories were made at ISE.   And did we mention such a job well done by our cafeteria ladies, related arts staff, Principal Cox, ISE Assistants, ISE Parent Volunteers and all teachers for the care given to truly make it such a special day!!
