Sullivan Central Accounting Students Visit ETSU
The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants invited area high school students to ETSU. The students learned about the many different career tracks open for students who complete their accounting degree and pass the CPA exam, including opportunities in the FBI and forensic accounting as well as public or corporate accounting. Speakers included Certified Public Accountants from the area speaking on topics such as ethics in the profession, social media savvy, and the job outlook for the profession. ETSU provided speakers to inform the students about preparing for college, student debt, and how to apply for scholarships.

The job outlook for accounting is growing faster than average. ETSU professors said that almost all of their graduates have multiple job offers upon graduation. This is very encouraging in today's job market and students were encouraged to continue with their accounting classes while in high school and seriously consider it as a major as they transition to college.

Sullivan East Holds Annual College and Career Fair
Sullivan East's annual College and Career Fair was held on August 28, 2015. All students had the opportunity to meet with over 35 representatives from universities, community colleges, TCAT, technical schools and the military. Students were given worksheets beforehand and were encouraged to ask questions about careers, majors, admission procedures and scholarship opportunities. Parents were also invited to this event.
