Miller Perry Third Graders Visit Clyde Austin 4-H Camp in Greeneville |
The Third Graders at Miller Perry Elementary spent the day on Friday, April 17th at the Clyde Austin 4-H Camp in Greeneville. It was a wonderful day full of amazing science experiences including canoeing, zip lining and bridge building. Several bridges met the criteria of holding up at least 30 pounds of weight. Canoeing and zip lining taught each child the value of working together as well as understanding concepts such as force and motion. We also learned about Tennessee wildlife and fossils. Pictured are Elias Carter, whose bridge built with his partner did hold 30 pounds, Noah Malik and his dad canoeing into shore and Mr. J.R., one of our camp advisors helping students to zip line. Our field trip to 4-H camp helps us learn how science works in everyday experiences!

Holston Valley Sixth Grade News |
The sixth grade at Holston Valley Middle School is anticipating a cultural field trip to see Junie B. Jones: The Musical at the Barter Theatre. We have been preparing for our trip by reading several books from the Junie B. Jones series, which the students have thoroughly enjoyed.
We will also have an end of the year celebration at Steele Creek Park in which we will have a cook-out style lunch and participate in several team-building activities.
It has been an exciting year full of many learning opportunities and growth. We wish the current sixth-graders luck as they move on to seventh grade and anxiously await the graduating fifth-graders from Emmett and Weaver!!!
