Bluegrass Performance at Indian Springs Elementary

Indian Springs Elementary music class got a live Bluegrass performance in honor of Rhythm and Roots. Students learned the history of Bluegrass and Bluegrass instruments while receiving hands on experience performing with the band. Thank you to the Powers Family and ETSU Bluegrass student Colton Powers for your time.

Miller Perry 5th Grade Students Dissect Owl Pellets

Miller Perry 5th grade students had a great time dissecting owl pellets as a part of their study on food chains.  While some students "dug right in" others were a bit squeamish and chose to don gloves!

Miller Perry 4th Grade Social Studies

Mrs. Jones 4th Grade Social Studies classes at Miller Perry Elem. have been studying the different cultural regions of Native Americans.  Each child researched a tribe from one of the 4 cultural regions and constructed a dwelling and found interesting facts to share about their tribe.  We had fantastic participation with this project.  In the pictures are a few examples of some of the dwellings!  Pictured are Sean Patrick Clare, Jacob McMurray, and Noah Price.

Miller Perry 4th Grade Science News

Mrs. Jones 4th grade Science classes have been studying food chains, food webs, plant and adaptations.  During this unit, we have been observing chameleons and the changes they make in their habitats.  We have six chameleons that we are studying.  They have watched them eat and molt their skin.  We also have earthworms that decompose any decaying materials.  The students pictured are Delaney Chase, Jadyn Reeves, and Quinn Sarginger.

Sullivan Central Accounting Students' Field Trip

Central High School Accounting students experienced a field trip to downtown Bristol on September 19. The students visited an accounting firm on State Street where they met with the owner. They learned about what Certified Public Accountants duties might be in a firm and how to build a business. They learned about opportunities in different areas of accounting. They were allowed to ask questions and gain knowledge that might help them in their future career pathways. The students also toured downtown Bristol as the Rhythm & Roots crews prepared for the weekend. Many of these students stayed to volunteer their time for the Rhythm & Roots event. Sherrie Spiegler is the Accounting teacher at Central.

Sullivan Central FBLA Students Volunteer at Rhythm & Roots

Twenty FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) students from Central High School volunteered at Rhythm & Roots in downtown Bristol on September 19. The students worked at the five tents surrounding the event selling admittance bracelets. This is the first year that bracelets with micro-chips were used. The students experienced technology difficulties and were able to serve the public with a great attitude despite the problems. The adults working with the students were impressed with how they handled themselves and how they dealt with festival patrons who were a little impatient. It was a great experience for these FBLA students to gain experience in human relations. A big thank you to the following adults who helped FBLA volunteer at R&R: Diane Staubus, Tracy Buckland, Lisa Winkle, and Amber Ramsey. FBLA Advisors at Central are Sherrie Spiegler, Becky Smith, and Ginger Shackelford.

 Sullivan North Middle School Chorus
Chorus students will spend the day at Northeast State on October 2 practicing with the All County Chorus and return at 6:30 that night for a public performance.  Mrs. Strohm has worked very hard getting the students ready for the performance this year.
