Got Grit? ISE Does! |
Indian Springs Elementary teachers, staff, and principal encourage students and each other to persevere, work hard, and have grit. Our theme this year is "Got Grit? ISE Does!" Fourth graders discussed what it looks like to have grit and created t-shirts that will inspire and remind them to do their best always. It's going to be a great year for the Redskins!

Colonial Heights Middle School STEM Projects |
7th and 8th graders designed and built two raised bed gardens that were installed outside of the school. Students planted seeds at the beginning of the school year and are currently raising 7 different groups of plants. We also have an indoor grow area where the students planted seeds and are raising 4 different plant groups indoors. They will compare the growth rates based on temperature, light and water supply.
8th graders are working on penny hockey tables. They each had to design their own table and draw it to the exact size on drafting paper. They the had to measure and cut their wood to size and sand it down smooth enough for a penny to slide across the table. They used their drawings to reference size and shape. They learned how to use a jigsaw, power sander, clamps, hammers and nails. Some of the math skills they learned were fractions, decimals, measurements and how to read a ruler. Some science skills were: friction, weight, force and surface area.
