Band Competition Winners
All 4 Sullivan County High School Bands were at the Music at the Castle competition in Bristol this past Saturday.  All of them performed and achieved at a very high level and these are the results:
  • Sullivan North High School was in Class A(2) and placed 3rd in their class.
  • Sullivan East High School was in a tough Class 2A and placed 5th in their class.
  • Sullivan Central was in Class 3A and was 2nd in Music, 1st in Visual, Overall Effect, Guard and Drum Major, 1st in their class and also won Class A to 3A Overall Champion!
  • Sullivan South High School was in Class 5A and was 1st place in Music, 2nd in Drum Major, 2nd place in their class, and had the 2nd highest score of the entire day out of 28 bands competing. The 1st place Music award is the first time that South has beaten the Elizabethton band in that category and the band also defeated the Science Hill band for the 2nd time this year!
Way to Go Sullivan County Bands!
Innovation Academy's Arcade
Following a global initiative, with Caine's Arcade, that would encourage students to use STEM projects to further project-based and problem-based learning, IA challenged students to put on their thinking caps to come up with amazing cardboard games. Students were to plan, design, create, and test their games. Games included skee ball, plinko, golf, basketball, soccer, table tennis, claw machine, and bowling just to name a few. Some were complex with moving parts. Students spent two weeks leading up to a CELEBRATION DAY where they could play the games that were created. Everyone had an amazing time with some AWESOME GAMES.

CYBERPATRIOT VI

Sullivan North High School Naval Junior Reserve Training Corp (NJROTC) will be participating in the sixth annual CyberPatriot Cybersecurity event in the near future.  CyberPatriot is a highly successful computer security competition and includes both practice sessions and live online security activities.  This event will eventually include several hundred schools (both JROTC and non JROTC schools) and the premier national high school cyber defense competition created by the Air Force Association.  The emphasis of this event is to inspire high school students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.
