Welcome Back - Let's Connect and Celebrate with Kids |
We are off to a great start in Sullivan County - students, parents, teachers, administrators and communities seem to sense the passion and enthusiasm we have for learning.
Every year we get to celebrate successes and the growth of children, but this year we want to emphasize Connections And Celebrations a little more. Sullivan County has demonstrated remarkable improvement in student performance during the past few years, and we have students participating in a wide variety of academic and extra-curricular activities. Let's continue to celebrate these successes. In the past we have celebrated student success in this weekly newsletter, at board meetings, and in assemblies at our schools. The best way we can celebrate student success is everyone sharing the great things that are happening. Let's celebrate.
Connections start with spending a little more time with students and encouraging their engagement in their own learning. I recently promised the PTA/PTO presidents that I would be spending at least two days each week joining students and teachers at schools for school lunch. I will post a schedule after Labor Day-please connect with students and me during lunchtime at your school.
Have a great year!

Sullivan Gardens K-8 Faculty and Staff Receive a Warm Welcome Back to School |
Sullivan Gardens K-8 faculty and staff were treated to a feast hosted by Glenn Alpine United Methodist Church last week. Glenn Alpine church members provided a delicious spread of home-cooked items for a "Welcome Back" faculty luncheon. They provided door prizes and goodie bags for teachers. This is just an example of the many ways Glenn Alpine and other community churches and organizations support our school. It was a wonderful way to begin a new school year in our Sullivan Gardens community!
