School Board Meeting Update 10-1-12
Director of Schools Report:Collaborative Conferencing: Sullivan County had training very recently which enables us to move forward on this. Our sessions may be videotaped as a model for other systems to emulate.
Ketron Air Quality: Several questions regarding air quality had previously been raised and initial tests have returned indicating that the air quality in the building is significantly cleaner than the outside air.
Chairman of the Board Report: The School Board Work Session will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 6:00 p.m. Board photographs will be taken that day at 5:00. The agenda for the work session includes board goals, student performance data, race to the top, facilities planning, enrollment patterns, update of the district maps, Ketron Academy update, Innovation Academy update, and school calendar.

- Race to the Top Grant Budget for the period 10-1-12 to 9-30-13 - Sullivan County is focusing Race to the Top dollars on building capacity. This includes formative assessment (Scantron), TEAM Evaluation training and system support, Common Core training, STEM initiatives, curriculum materials, Administrative training, and professional learning communities. - Approved

The recommendation is to include minimum requirements for Substitute teachers. Substitutes through third-party entities, ensuring that background checks are completed. - Mrs. Ivester requests the policy committee to review the Legislative Leave Policy 5.309
