Director of Schools Report:
Tennessee for Race to the Top includes two primary objectives:  growth for all students, every year and closing achievement gaps by ensuring faster growth for those students who are furthest behind.  In the 15 districts in Upper East Tennessee,  Sullivan County was the highest ranking county system in 5 out of 8 areas.  Sullivan County also exceeded the target for High School Graduation rate and each ACT area fell above the state averages.  Sullivan South High School achieved a composite score of 21.8 on the ACT.   For more information, please view the data report presentation here.

Reward Schools:

Sullivan County has five schools that have been recognized as reward schools for being in the top 5% of schools in Tennessee.  Those schools are: Blountville Elementary, Central Heights Elementary, Indian Springs Elementary, Mary Hughes, and Sullivan North High School.  Indian Springs received a double distinction for being in the top 5% in both achievement and growth.  Principals at each of the reward schools were presented with a certificate of achievement by Mr. Dan Wells, Chairman of the Board.  Cedar Grove Elementary, Brookside Elementary, and Sullivan Elementary were also considered for reward status.
