Members Needed for PB Steering Committee
The City of Vallejo is now accepting applications to fill Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee (PBSC) vacancies! In accordance with the 2013-2014 Rulebook, the Steering Committee must comprise a minimum of 14 local civic organizations and a maximum of 7 at-large, for a total of 21 members. The terms of 16 organizations are expiring in December 2014, leaving vacancies for between 14 and 16 organizations and up to 2 at-large members (for a total not to exceed 16).
The purpose of the PBSC is to oversee the PB process; including, designing the rules, planning public meetings and events, and conducting outreach and education with diverse constituencies. Further Roles & Responsibilities of the Steering Committee can be found in the Rulebook. Applications are due by Friday, October 24 at 5:00 p.m. It is anticipated that the City Council will make appointments on November 4 for a term to begin in January 2015. The City of Vallejo believes it is important to maintain diversity on the PBSC. If you are not able to apply online, contact Alea Gage at (707) 648-4041 [email protected]. Please note there are separate applications for organizations and at-large candidates. |

Cycle 1 Gardens
Continue to Sprout
Vallejo gardens funded through PB continue to provide green space for the community to gather and learn. We are excited to announce the execution of agreements with Friends of Loma Vista Farm and the VCUSD (for Cave Language Academy). Both agreements will support the expansion of gardens accessible to Vallejo's youth.
We would like to congratulate the Kyles Temple Community Gardens on their official opening, held on Saturday, October 18.
You're invited! On Sunday, October 26, for a Fall Harvest Celebration, hosted by Vallejo People's Garden as part of their Community Gardens & Nutrition Education Project.
Open to the public, the event includes pumpkin activities and coincides with the monthly Vallejo Grown potluck that is hosted by a different garden on the last Sunday of the month. Join the celebration at 1055 Azuar Drive on Mare Island from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
