Austin International School
February 12, 2014

The gala was a great success! Many thanks again to all of the parents, staff, family and friends for your incredible generosity and enthusiastic support of this year's Spring Gala. The event was a wonderful success, highlighted by an exciting live auction of beautiful pieces of artwork done by our students and teachers, a silent auction full of fantastic items - generously donated by our families and local businesses, and representing our community's diverse interests and talents - and the fabulous Vendetta Big Band, courtesy of the Bielinski Family's 26-Music School, that kept us dancing into the night.

Special thanks to Laura Jacks, Gala Chair, and the entire gala committee for putting on such a special evening. Take a peek at some pictures from the event
, and if you took some of your own, please share them with us in our Facebook group! Thank you again.

PTO News

The AIS Facebook Group is the unofficial hub of PTO chatter, and it's bustling! Join up and get in on the conversation.

Bread and Pastry Fundraiser

The PTO will be back this Friday after school with the bread and pastry for sale.  As usual we will have baguettes, pains au chocolat and croissants for $3.00 each.

Do you have time to help the PTO with this project by picking up our baked goods?  This can be a one time pick-up or as often as you like.  Each Friday a volunteer travels to the Artisan Bistro in Lakeway to pick up the delicious baked goods we offer for sale each Friday.  It's a great place to enjoy lunch (or dinner some time!).  Please sign up here with Sign Up Genius if you are willing to help out.

HELP WANTED!
To volunteer for any of the very important opportunities listed below, please contact the PTO by email at ais-pto@austininternationalschool.org.

Did you know that Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up in just a few weeks again?  The PTO would like to provide snacks and refreshments for the teachers and staff while they spend those evenings meeting with parents.  To do that, we need a volunteer to coordinate the purchase of the food, set up and clean-up for those three days.  If you can help with that, please contact the PTO by email.

Room Parent Coordinator
The PTO is seeking a volunteer to be the Room Parent Coordinator for next year (2014-2015).  Tracey Manuel has done this job for the past several years and is ready to move on. The Room Parent Coordinator is the liaison between the school administration and the Class Room Parents, formulating emails that the Class Room Parents send out to their respective classes to disseminate information about school events, class parties and other communications and reminders. The Room Parent Coordinator recruits Class Room Parents for the fall and spring semesters. Assists (via school administration staff) the Class Room Parent to maintain the class roster and allergy list for the class.

If you are interested in taking over this incredibly important job, please contact the PTO by email.

Community Service Committee Coordinator
The PTO is looking for a volunteer to take over the Community Service Committee for the Spring.  This position involves coordinating a volunteer activity within the community for student and parent participation. This activity has traditionally been a park clean up at Balcones District Park (just down the road from the school) with participation through Keep Austin Beautiful. Without a coordinator, this activity won't happen this year so we need YOU! Please contact the PTO by email if you can help out with this activity.
