on Saturday, February 8. Bring your family and friends together for a Pioneer or Innovator table, or buy an individual Explorer ticket and enjoy your night with a beautiful view of downtown Austin from The Headliner's Club!

There will be student art up for grabs during our fast and fun live auction, dinner, drinks, live music from The Vendetta Big Band, a grand raffle prize, and an amazing array of silent auction items that include AIS parent-hosted dinner parties, kids adventure outings, gift certificates and much more. It's an elegant, festive and incredibly enjoyable event that we hope everyone will join us for.

January 17 

9 a.m. | Wild Basin Winds Concert

Students will enjoy a performance by the woodwind quintet Wild Basin Winds performing classical and modern songs for the children, in the multipurpose room. Thank you to the Scanlan Foundation for bringing us this musical series three times per year.

 

4 to 6 p.m. | Water Shut off

We have scheduled water service in the school building to be shut off, as the water pipes need to be drained. We would like to encourage parents to pick up their children before 4 p.m. if possible. We will take measures to keep inconvenience to a minimum for students and staff who have to stay after 4 p.m.

 

January 26 | 12 - 4 p.m.

Information Session for Prospective Parents 

Parents and supporters, help spread the word that our next information sessions for prospective parents will be held next month. Parents and children are invited to join teachers and staff at the school for a Q & A session, campus tour and enrollment overview. Share our Feb. 15 and Feb. 22 events via Facebook and RSVP online

Drive Safely on Campus

Please be reminded that the direction of traffic is: Entry from Coronet Street; exit to Amherst Drive. Only during the pickup hour of 3 to 4 p.m. may you enter and exit from either street. Speed limit is 10 miles per hour. Thank you.

 

Office Locations for Administrative Staff

Until the new wing of the school building is complete, Christine Christy, Ester Muyot Snodgrass and Janet Shotwell may be found in the office at the end of the hallway (previously just Christine Christy) and Kyle Carroll, Suzanne Krause and Laurence Raud may be found in the office at the back of the multipurpose room (previously just Laurence Raud).

 

After School Care Billing

The billing for October and November After School Care was both emailed and placed in your parent folder prior to the winter break. If you have already made payment, we thank you; if not, your immediate payment is appreciated. December After School Care bills we be going out shortly. Please feel free to email Janet Shotwell if you are unsure of your After School Care balance(s) due. Thank you.

 
FY 2013 Paperwork
Please contact Kyle Carroll if you need a copy of any letters of acknowledgment for your donations to the school, a compiled list of your donations for the 2013 calendar year, or any other tax-deductible contribution information. Kyle can also provide letters of acknowledgement for in-kind donations if needed. Please contact her with any questions. 

  

Extracurricular Activities
Thank you to parents who have already fill out the after school activities survey. Deadline to complete our survey is January 24.
 
After school activity registration is now closed. Canceled activities are:
  • Wednesday: Storytelling, study hall
  • Thursday: Science III, soccer, study hall
Badges with the list of activities for each child will be distributed in your parent folders next week.

 

It's Girl Scout Cookie time 
Girl Scouts who are AIS students will be selling cookies at a table outside the reception area this Wednesday and Thursday, January 15 and 16, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Cookies are $4 per box. If you have an AIS student who is also a Girl Scout and would like to include her, contact Tracey Manuel


French Conversation for Adults- Tonight

AIS parents Francis Mathieu and Lisa Gustavson are leading French Conversation Hour for AIS parents. Fun!
5:30 Wednesday, January 15 at El Monumento Restaurant (205 W 2nd St, Georgetown, TX 78626).

The AIS Facebook Group is the unofficial hub of PTO chatter, and it's bustling! Join up and get in on the conversation.

 

Bread and Pastry Fundraiser

The PTO will be back this Friday after school with the bread and pastry for sale.  As usual we will have baguettes, pains au chocolat and croissants for $3.00 each.  The PTO will also be offering for pre-order only galette de rois!  The "king's cake" will be available every Friday in January and can be picked up at the PTO's table.  The price is $26 for a cake that serves 8 to 10 people.  Please email the PTO before Thursday to pre-order your galette de rois.

Are you interested in setting up a carpool but need some help connecting with other parents who live in your area? The PTO is happy to help you all connect! We have created a spreadsheet to help you find a carpooling partner. If you have a suggestion on how to improve the spreadsheet, please contact us; we'd be happy to change it to make it more useful.
