Third Annual AIS Fun(d) Run.

Don't forget to register your child for this year's Fun(d) Run!

This Friday, November 8, will be School Spirit Day - students and staff will show their enthusiasm for AIS by wearing blue and green in whatever creative way they choose - hats, scarves, hair ribbons, face paint, hair color, etc. Volunteers will be outside that morning during drop-off to paint faces and spray hair color for students with parent permission.

Starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, students will gather to be cheered on by their friends and family for the Fun(d) Run! For more information and to register online, please visit our online events page. You can also sign and return the form in the blue box at reception, or Kyle will be outside this week with a sign-up table. The $5 registration fee gets your child a cool event t-shirt or water bottle! They can wear the shirt on "casual Fridays" at school!

Specific details regarding the day of the event (parking, security, etc.) will be sent out on Thursday

We need parent volunteers to help this event be as much fun as it was last year! Please contact Tracey Manuel if you can help: (jtcmanuel@gmail.com or 512-897-7994).

November 11 | 9 a.m.

Wild Basin Winds Concert

Students will enjoy the woodwinds ensemble's performance of classical and children's music in the auditorium.

Information Session for Prospective Parents

Watch our new "AIS Stories" videos.

We're hosting our first information session of the school year next month. Please spread the word to family, friends and coworkers who may be interested in learning more about our unique program. It's easy to share our event via Facebook. We welcome everyone to get to know us by coming to meet our teachers, ask questions and tour the campus. We've enhanced our prospective parents page - please share it. We have also put fun, helpful sharing cards in your parent folders that you may use to give more information to your friends, family and co-workers.

You can also Be a Champion for AIS by trying out one or some of these ideas;

  • Sharing the story of AIS
  • Promoting the school (magnets, shirts, bags)
  • Share our website
  • Write an online review
  • "Liking" our Facebook page
  • "Follow" our Twitter feed
  • Invite your friends to our Information Session Nov. 16
Thank you

Many thanks again to everyone who showed their enthusiasm, school spirit, and support during our Annual Fund Challenge last week. Not only did we reach our goal of 45 new gifts to the Annual Fund in one week, we exceeded it by more than 5 gifts and they are still coming in!

The William and Salome Scanlan Foundation will be awarding us $2,000 for soaring past our participation goals. As an added bonus, if just five of those new gifts were $250 or more, we would be awarded an extra $500.....and we doubled that number! That is $2,500 for our school, in addition to the generous contributions we've received from all of you.

We have increased our community participation rate in the Annual Fund to nearly 70 percent. In just one week, that is truly impressive, and so important to the success and growth of our school. Congratulations! Let's keep this momentum and excitement going all year!

Thank you again, and remember that you can still help us raise participation to 100 percent by donating any time - each and every gift still makes an important difference.

Thanks!
We give a huge thank you to Shachon Leaf for her generous donation of food and time during last week's three evenings of parent-teacher conferences. It was so helpful during this busy time.

And, a HUGE thank you to the PTO and organizer Tracey Manuel for the over-the-top delicious Thanksgiving faculty/staff lunch yesterday. What a treat!

Save the Date
November 18: We begin registration for the second semester's After School Activities -and they will fill fast!

Activities during Fund Run
On Friday November 8, 2013, the school is having the Fund run, a fundraising event. As you know, this event is largely followed by most of our students, and we love to support them all during this event. Because this event starts at 4:30 p.m., we have to make some modifications in regards to the After School Activities as follows:
  • Lego III, piano II will be canceled on this day. Make-up classes for these will be on Friday December 13, at 4:35 pm
  • Science I, Science CM2, and Study Hall will end at 4:25 p.m. to allow the children to get ready for the run
  • Yoga class will start at 3:30 p.m. instead of 4:30 p.m., and will end at 4:25 p.m.
PTO News

The next PTO meeting is tonight at 5:30 p.m. Meeting minutes and agendas available on the PTO page of the AIS website.

The AIS Facebook Group is the unofficial hub of PTO chatter, and it's bustling! Join up and get in on the conversation.

Our monthly PTO meeting is being held tonight, we hope to see you all there! Sign up sheet is still posted in the reception corridor.

Last week the PTO held the first bread and pastry sale of items from the Artisan Bistro and it was GREAT!  Thanks to everyone who supported this delicious fundraiser.  We're working to make this a weekly event (usually on Fridays).  If you can help us by making a trip to the Artisan Bistro to pick up the baked goods, we would love to hear from you.  Contact us and let us know that you are willing to help.

This week, the PTO will be selling the baguettes, croissants and pain au chocolate ($3.00 each) on Thursday.  We'll be right out front so you can't miss us!
